difference between 30-40 frames butter smooth and 60 to 80 f

There is absolutely no need for anyone to do this. Just read the forum, 90% of people that use FG don’t even bother to look at numbers any more. Those days of tweaking are over. FG revolutionised simming. There is nothing placebo about it, and quite frankly, it’s simply brilliant. Any layman can notice the difference.

Well that's your opinion Ian. I'm curious and will do that test when I upgrade, but that is a ways out for me at this point.  It will be a new mainboard/RAM/CPU for me next, and that likely when this CPU finally can't be o'clocked enough.  Any other layman can easily see you'll do anything but do this experiment which is a piece of cake to do, and one can only wonder if that is because you're afraid of what you'll learn.  Just sayin' 😉

No, it’s because I’m too busy flying instead of messing around with un-needed software. No one else has done it either for the same reason.

Nice try--that may be the most hilarious rationale I've heard here in ever 🤣

Have some of you set up a notification so that every time anyone mentions 'FPS' you get stuck with a sharp needle? You are all so determined to get the same tedious points across time after time after time. Anyone who brings up the same arguments or counter arguments about FPS more than twice should be banned for life!

This doesn’t exist on windows 11, and I remember back in 10 that this made no difference according to devs I’m sure.

Don’t know but I thought I’d post it as it might help someone.

That I think too.

Just a few might be digging deep to get the smoothest flight experience that might be possible.

You could also go to your most demanding airport with bad weather etc  and see how smooth it is while taxiing and making a few approaches
If you see stuttering start lowering settings till you find it smooth enough.

Now you can fly everywhere with good performance…..

Which graphics cards are capable of using Frame Generation?

RTX 40XX with DX12 and HAGS enabled

and AMD FSR 3 DX11 and DX12 available also for NVIDIA in the near future, but not implemented in MSFS yet...

FG is a game changer here local 🙂

I just got notified you used the term 'FPS' in your post, so I am back.  More is definitely better you know!  Smoothness and frame-time are important also.

Call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind, but I prefer Rob.

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's.  Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.

More what? Tedious 'x' is better than 'y' posts?

I edited my post to include smoothness and frame-time, so we probably need a 'Z' and a 'W' in there now.

Must be a lot of people laughing then, I bet it’s folks using FG with 4X series cards 😄

I get in the 50s-60s on my 4k TV. I use Track IR when in 2d, so my first concern was a higher framerate to keep up with Track IR's polling (it is trash below 40's) and then maximizing eye candy but not at the cost of keeping framerates in the 50's. As such, while I have alot of things on ultra, I do keep my LOD's at 100 and have some of the annoying post processing stuff turned off. I set it once and then forget about it. No need to babysit FPS beyond the initial setup. Same thing for VR with my G2. I put the settings to get me the best framerate first, then found a happy medium that allowed great framerate (using the toolkit etc) with decent visuals. Set it once, then I turned all the overlays etc off.
