So, it's not capable then is it? Because it stutters.

Ah, I see another one of those threads where a certain something is singing the gospel of 34FPS to rival even that of smooth 60FPS  😅

As I have said many times now, my system is capable of 60fps, but not without stutters.  MSFS is visually great, so I personally want as much of the graphical stuff as I can get, rather than chase higher FPS and lose out.  Locked FPS at 34 gives me very high to ultra settings with a COMPLETELY SMOOTH display, because my frame times (FTV) are consistent. I'll say it again, I prefer consistent FTV over chasing FPS for the sake of it.  TrackIR and Tobii Eyetracker work just fine on my system.  I agree that 40fps would be better because at that point moving the virtual head becomes completely smooth, but I don't want to sacrifice what I enjoy for a tiny bit more smoothness.

I really don't understand why those with 4090's etc are so adamant that anything below that is 'awful' - it isn't.

Its not awful. Its just not the only and absolute best solution available as certain people always jump in and proclaim. Capping frames to create a reserve on system resources isn't a new phenomena. Its as simple as enabling the frame time variance line  in rtss and seeing the stutters happening on the line and after capping the frames with your software of choice those stutters go away because there is now some reserve available. I used to cap using Radeon chill at 50fps. Frame pacing was smooth and consistent all the way from the capped 50 fps to the low thirties if i am landing at a resource heavy airport no microstutters so even if the overall frame rate fell into the thirties it was a smooth experience.

Then frame gen happened and with that frame gen you can actually properly use Gysnc /Freesync  and probably never drop out of your monitors proper sync range. Do i need in excess of 100fps for a flight sim? not really. But now you can clamp the frames for a different reason where there is an abundance rather than too little. Does it feel smooth as silk when you have framegen activated and you are simming firmly in your properly configured monitor's freesync/gync ranges in all phases of flight .. absolutely.

The tech is moving along. For those that can take advantage of it do the research and make it work for your own unique system. Its not a one size fits all situation.

Because those with 4090's have witnessed what is possible. It's like driving a Lada all your life and then someone puts you in a Ferrari. You DON'T want to go back to the Lada, ever! So to the 4090 owner, 30 FPS is awful. Context.

How about a 4090 being better, not a 2080ti being awful?

Quite obnoxious when somebody with a more powerful system looks down their nose at you.

If this is what owning a 4090 does for your personality, i'll stick with a 2080ti.

You can easily peak 70fps+ but obviously not maintain it. I can easily maintain 60fps with a low FTV (yes i know what that is) and so i have no clue why i would got back to a lower (insert  FPS count of your choice) FPS with basically the same FTV. So what are you and Noel trying to sell me?

For you, I am selling nothing because you have the system to not worry about it!

Precisely, so for someone like me without the latest PC, I have to make some trades - FTV is more important than FPS.

I have no idea wht OTOH means but i just gave you method a try and immediately switched back to my setup

On The Other Hand.

You can't prove you've "tried my method" without obtaining a CapFrameX analysis.  This is freeware, works wonderfully and is quick to do.  Go ahead install it, hit the F11 key, and see what you're ACTUALLY looking at.  Until you do this, it's all hot air.

Here's one I did the other day:spacer.png

Go ahead and post one so all can see.  If it's somewhere close to this, then you did in fact set this up correctly and can be believed.  You're so bent (english slang for "determined") to dispute this, and MrBitsFlyer's experience, I'm not at all convinced you've actually done this because for starters, you'd immediately see this was FAR BETTER than your vast experience with 30hz/30FPS.

I have absolutely no interest in wasting any more time installing software and fiddling around with settings just to prove anything to you or MrBitsFlyer. If you don't believe me and think its all hot air thats totally your problem not mine. I am in no way anymore determined to discuss this than anyone else. I was just stating what my experience was. Nothing more, nothing less.

Why is it so important to you to get proof of what i was telling is believable?

Oh trust me, it's a personal crusade of his and he'll knock everyone over the head with it until you fall in line, you will see that image posted regularly around here and him issuing his 'challenge'. It's really exhausting to witness. Last time he even started private messaging me saying the exact same thing, it's bordering on this weird intimidation tactic.

Heh, yeah it does become become comical in how fanatically it's being presented.

Yes, your good friend said on page 3 that 60FPS was "hardly distinguishable from the first entry", i.e 34FPS when both were perfectly frame paced. Which is the biggest load of delusional rubbish.

No one is looking down their nose at you, least not me. I’m simply explaining. You’re the one turning it in to something it isn’t 🤷🏻‍♂️ And you’re quoting me out of context too, where did I say a 2080ti was awful? I didn’t. I said 34-36 fps was awful, using trackIR as its polling rate is 120hz. If you’re going to quote me, at least quote actually what I said and in context.

What’s my personality got to do with anything? Why do you have to bring personal insults in to the debate? Are you a child? Grow up.
