What a poor showing. Yet again, Asobo are pandering to the Xbox crowd.

Ground handling improvements, oversteering, front wheel skidding... what is this, Forza Horizon or a flight simulator?

Sadly, yet so predictably, no mention was made of the number one feature that has been blatantly missing since release for any serious sim bush pilot: Pebbles. They said they would bring this to MSFS 2024. I predicted they would break their promise, and now here's the proof.

I'm just about done with Asobo at this point.

Now you know that xbox crowd will know more about flying airplane than you LOL

It's unfortunate that they misunderstood the question about cloud turbulence. It sounded like they interpreted the question as a general turbulence issue and not cloud turbulence which in my view is one of the most important features that are lacking.

Thanks for the summary of the livestream, I couldn't bear to watch any longer when someone asking about achievements.

New 2024 screenshot. They really like the grand canyon lol

If they can replicate detail like this across terrain globally, that’s gonna make VFR / bush insanely satisfying everywhere😍

I have a feeling this was a cherry picked area

I wouldn’t be surprised, but if they’re extrapolating rocks (and pebbles!) from 2D aerials as well as the 3D mesh, I can’t see any reason they wouldn’t be able to do it everywhere, given good enough quality data.

I do tend to agree.  I mean I assume they're going to place rocks and bushes in a realistic manner as you get closer.  That would be cool - especially since they mentioned it being better than Forza.

Yeah, I’m looking forward to hearing more about that, especially bushes and trees.

Although the Blackshark work was undoubtedly pioneering for flightsims on 2020 launch, I’d love to see another pass from refined AI. One of my gripes is flying beautiful Mediterranean islands with the trees in no way matching what the aerials are clearly showing as neatly-ordered olive-tree plantations.

Ya something got lost there in asking the question and answering (also the question had a typo which didn't help, i.e. "... we still don't get any turbulence is real weather generated clouds. The real weather generated clouds typically lack density..." ) so he spoke about turbulence separately and then clouds density in live weather vs manual/presets: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1990511891?t=00h56m18s

Although he does say there he tried it in Spain today with bad weather and big clouds and he felt turbulence in the clouds? also he confirmed by turning on the CFD atmospheric airflow visualization to see the drafts/etc (that's a feature I keep forgetting about, need to turn it on myself more often and then see if that correlates to what I feel in the aircraft)

2D out of 3D is their solution for places that don't have tin data so cherry picked or not, everywhere will look better.

Iirc they said parts of the canyon have photogrammetry in 2024.

someone made a gif showing a comparison of how the area looks in 2020

Base aerials look improved as well. Hopefully that’s a sign of some more AI polish of current aerials rather than simply more recent satellite passes.

I could be mistaken, but I think Jorg said sim update 16 would be the last one before 2024 releases. If you do the math, if there’s no longer gaps than normal, SU15 would be February, and SU16 would be April.

So 2024 will not release before then
