Yes , after a quick fly and taxi around Miramar all looks good.

As a mid priced add on it's certainly worthy of the price, lots of well modelled aircraft, equipment and personnel make for a bustling flight line.

The aircraft models are well paired up with different liveries and registrations so didn't spot any immediate repetition. The buildings and hangers are well modelled and look crisp.

The only small thing if you were specifically looking to be super critical would be they cold have used a slightly higher res ground texture to build it on, but it's only brown scrubland and is fine from a couple of hundred feet upwards. Apron , taxiway and runway textures are all fine.

Thanks, seems like a natural pairing with the F-14 then.

Oh my, if only me as a child watching Top Gun could have imagined I’d be flying such a high detailed F-14 out of Top Gun era Miramar on my computer someday… 😀

Yes, I had to make do with " Mig alley ace" and "air combat emulator" on the Commodore at the time

I know right Dave?  If you have a sudden urge to fly a military aircraft from your neck of the woods, I painted this one recently for a good friend of mine in Canada:

Your country will be getting them in the future...but you get to fly her in flightsim before the real pilots do. 🙂
You can get her by clicking the big here in the link under my sig.

Has anybody who's bought this also got the DCDesigns F14, and if so, how do they compare visually? I'm not bothered about flight models, accuracy or any of that stuff, just interested in how the textures and models compare. I've got the FJ/DCD version, and would only want to splash out on this one if the new one is significantly better finished.

TIA for any advice

Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. Sims in use - 2020, 2024, XP-12 and -11, FSX/SE, P3Dv4.5 and v5.4. DCS and AFS2 installed but rarely used

For those who've used the Heatblur F14 in DCS and also now have it for MSFS, any opinions on comparisons of flight model & handling, systems, other features, etc? (EDIT: ha, posted around same time as andy1252 above, but guess we're asking for different comparisons)

No comparison. The IndiaFoxtecho/Heatblur is some of the best and detailed modeling/texturing I have seen in MSFS. That said, the DC Designs model is easier to fly and manage.

Thanks for that. I'll probably give it a go then.

So that is from a real F-14...  Where is the comparison picture for the one in the sim?

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

1. Is there any manual avalable for the Tomcat?
2. Where is /are the carrier/s located that come with the F-14?

Thanks.

Re Carriers ..... from the last page of the quick start guide:

5.4 FORRESTAL-CLASS CARRIERS

This F-14 package comes with high-detail, static models for all of the Forrestal class ships. In the initial release, these are non-SDK compliant, static models which can be used as airports, have a TACAN and an ILS, and tower and approach frequencies.

Locations are as follows:
CV-59 USS Forrestal → Near Norfolk (airport code CV59, TACAN 59X)

CV-60 USS Saratoga → Mediterranean Sea (airport code CV60, TACAN 50X)

CV-61 USS Ranger → Arabic Gulf (airport code CV61, TACAN 51X)
CV-62 USS Independece → Near Taiwan (airport code CV62, TACAN 52X)

All carrier are oriented towards EAST (true heading 090), and are equipped with two “runway spawn points” (near catapults) and one “cold and dark” spawn points – ILS frequency is 108.50.

🙂 the gray box in the upper left is from the MSFS camera dialog if that tells you anything.
