January 28, 20242 yr “We think it could be her plane,” said Tony Romeo of Sullivan’s Island and the founder of the exploration company Deep Sea Vision. It’s also possible that the object is a string of rocks in the shape of a plane, he added. The company’s next step is to mount another expedition this year and use a camera to search for confirming evidence, such as the plane’s tail number: NR16020. https://www.postandcourier.com/news/special_reports/amelia-earhart-search-tony-romeo-deep-sea-vision/article_3a42e6a8-a0e5-11ee-a942-77a1581d6b19.html Edited January 29, 20242 yr by dmwalker Dugald Walker

January 30, 20242 yr I'm going to guess they did find her plane! Amelia Earhardt and Eugen Vidal, the love of her life (he was not her husband who came on the scene later). His son was author Gore Vidal who famously got involved in an infamous on air dirty name calling fight with William Buckley during a TV network election night voting returns coverage when tempers flared. Author of "East to the Wind" Susan Butler was told something strange by her friend Gore Vidal. His father told him that someone had written a biography about his sweetheart Amelia Airhardt decades ago that was never published. Susan Butler tracked down the unpublished book (it wasn't easy) and used the material in "East to the Wind". What impressed me in "East to the Wind" was that the chapters about when she is starting to plan any one of her famous flights, the book lists the flights that preceded Amelia's planned attempt. These were fatal. Very famous pilots (including two renown WWI air aces, Charles Nungesser and George Guynemer ) died attempting the flights which Amelia was now about to take on. All her flights were dangerous, extremely so. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. February 1, 20242 yr Worth going down to take a look, if not the Electra it is more likely a 1950s era military due to the swept back wings, which if anything could lead to closure for a family. If it is the Electra the wings must have remained intact when ditched in the sea and sank while attached, and broke and settled in the shape we see in the sonar when hitting the ocean floor, therefore plausible, and probably worth taking a look. One way or the other it leads to closure for someone Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me

February 1, 20242 yr Wasn't there a lot of WWII combat in that are? Could be Dauntless. I believe their wings were slightly swept. Vic green
February 2, 20242 yr Could be a Beech D-18/C-45. As for the wing shape, that was pretty common shape for twin engine monoplanes designed in the 1930's.
