February 11, 20242 yr Scratching my head re a failed ILS into KBOS, 04R. Had Nav1 on 110.30, came into the feathers at 2,000', switched from NAV/GPS to LOC1, hit APR on the AP, but it did not descend. What am I missing? T45 PS: Having overflown 04R at 2,000' I set the back course into 22L, also on 110.30, & dropped to 1,500', and then the ILS kicked in & the DA42 came in very smoothly, so it looks like I was too high on the approach into 04R. Really other than that I’m quite enjoying it! Spotted that as an issue as well. Wonder if it's another plane designed with the "Lock" cockpit interaction system in mind ?
February 11, 20242 yr Two other things I’ve noticed/ questions: - is there something I need to do to enable nosewheel steering after I land? On each flight it has worked fine for taxi to the runway, but seems to work poorly / not at all after I land and am trying to taxi. - in order to transfer fuel from the aux tanks to the regular tanks do I just turn on the two fuel pumps? I couldn’t find a specific aux fuel pump switch anywhere but it didn’t seem like fuel was being transferred when I turned on the two fuel pumps. Good to know that it is realistic to have the GFC700 in the older Centurion 2.0 -engined version too. I actually prefer the TDI over the more powerful -VI version, although I can't explain why 😄 Bill 😎FS2024 • Currently in 'GA mode' : A2A Comanche 2024 & Aerostar • Black Square C208, Bonanzas, Barons, TBM850, Dukes • COWS DA40 & DA42 • FSW Legacy, C24R Sierra & C414 • Echo Falco F8L • FFX HJET, Visionjet and P180 2024 • Got Friends A32 Vixxen • FSReborn Sirius TL3000, Sting S4 and Piper M500 • Flyboy Rans S6S • Skyward DA50RG • SWS Zenith CH701, RV-8, RV-10, RV-14, PC12 • Milviz C310R • Air Foil Labs Bristell B23 TrackIR • BeyondATC • PMS GTN Payware • RealTurb • Axis & Ohs • FS Realistic Pro9800X3D • RTX 3080 • 64GB DDR5-6000NPPL licence holder in the UK

It is not specifically mentioned on the Wikipedia page: The 'TDI' version uses the Thielert Centurion 2.0 engines (135hp), which were essentially Mercedes 2.0 van engines, stripped down and built back up with aviation-standard injectors, lines and fuel pumps. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thielert_Centurion The '-VI' version uses the later AE300 (E4) Austro engines (168hp).https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Austro_Engine_E4 Bill 😎FS2024 • Currently in 'GA mode' : A2A Comanche 2024 & Aerostar • Black Square C208, Bonanzas, Barons, TBM850, Dukes • COWS DA40 & DA42 • FSW Legacy, C24R Sierra & C414 • Echo Falco F8L • FFX HJET, Visionjet and P180 2024 • Got Friends A32 Vixxen • FSReborn Sirius TL3000, Sting S4 and Piper M500 • Flyboy Rans S6S • Skyward DA50RG • SWS Zenith CH701, RV-8, RV-10, RV-14, PC12 • Milviz C310R • Air Foil Labs Bristell B23 TrackIR • BeyondATC • PMS GTN Payware • RealTurb • Axis & Ohs • FS Realistic Pro9800X3D • RTX 3080 • 64GB DDR5-6000NPPL licence holder in the UK

And I have a few questions about their G1000. According to this pre-release writeup about the Cows back in August: 2. This pre-release write up claims their team consists of 4 people, and only 1 is a programmer. Supposedly, the Cows G1000 can do everything the real G1000 can do? How did they build the G1000 from ground up and it can do everything the real G1000 can do, with only 1 programmer? I believe it even took a team at Working Title to do the G1000 NXi. So this lone programmer, Jacob, at Cows not only programmed everything else for the plane, but on top of programming everything else for the plane, he also programmed a fully functioning G1000? Huh? (if this Jacob guy did all that, and did it in the timeframe he was given, Working Title should hire this guy, LMAO) 3. If the G1000 they built is so good, why not sell that as a separate add-on for XP? This would be the best G1000 for XP, why don't they don't sell it as a separate product? It's likely they're using the Default G1000 included with XP as the base rather than coding from scratch. Several XP devs have done this over the years. This will also explain why it won't become a stand-alone addon.

The Devs have spoken in the past of creating an entirely new system without using any of the default XP G1000, which makes a lot of sense considering how limited and generally inaccurate the default version is.

Love the little touch on the backup altimeter where the hundreds foot indicator arms jiggles back and forth like it does in real life, nice touch. Kevin Edited February 11, 20242 yr by KevinS137

A lot more functionality than the default Diamonds. For a start, both doors open! 😄 Then there's the fully featured FADEC, including the ECU test functionality. FDE is also vastly better than the default DA62. The modelling, texturing and systems/NXi all from scratch using various sources of information.
February 12, 20242 yr With the mrtommymxr mod (https://flightsim.to/file/2733/da62x-project), at flightsim.to, the DA62 seems very similar. They both use the G1000nxi, have similar cockpit, Fadec, a similar interior, and similar exterior profile. The flight model and the systems for the DA62 have been improved by the mod including ECU test funtionality. So the differences mainly boil down to working circuit breakers and doors that open, and I guess wear and tear. It appears that the DA42 may have better visibility, one of the downsides of the DA62 IMO. I've never been in either so I can't begin to judge the flight model. IRL, the 62 has more useful load and a roomier interior...and costs more. Edited February 12, 20242 yr by mikegrr
