(I don't think the GFC700 was available at any point in the TDI's lifespan) Here's a 2009 DA-42 NG with a GFC700, so I think older DA-42's are not exclusively equipped with the KAP140: https://www.plane4you.eu/en/offers/71-diamond-da42-ng-sp-atn,222 Come to think of it, which variant is the 'TDI' anyway? February 10, 20242 yr Got it cause I am a sucker. Price was ok. Nice plane. I would agree on par with the latest addons. Its not ground breaking in the visuals, but it is very nice. Flies really well and the sound is really good. I really wish we could get readable cockpits. So hard to see. I was hoping for better on this plane. If I had any grippe's that would be it, but seems like the default for all addon planes. Also would be nice to have a manual. It's GA. its small and its not from the 1950's. I like it. It is not specifically mentioned on the Wikipedia page: TDI is usually referring to the older airframes with the "centurion" diesel engines from Thielert. I don't think any thielert engines are powering the NG's, instead we have the more powerful Austro AE-300 diesel. EASA PPL SEPL + NQ / CB-IR in progress MSFS24 | X-Plane 12

So basically all aircraft built before 2009. @JYW I also found N49LU, a 2007 TDI but with a GFC700, so COWS got it right. February 10, 20242 yr Been seeing reports/reviews of this one popping up and noteable how glowing most of them are. A commenter on the FSElite article seems to be putting it at the same level as A2A's Comanche in terms of flight model and systems which is really saying something. Those of you who have both the A2A and this one please do tell us your thoughts on how they compare. The sim can never have too many complex high fidelity GAs 🙂 FSElite comment: https://fselite.net/content/cows-releases-diamond-da42-twin-star/This is REALLY impressive! Imagine the A2A Comanche without the EFB but pretty much everything you need baked into the G1000 (charts, settings) The innovation is really impressive; for example, Simbrief flight plans show up under the FP Catalog as if you had just saved it previously. The flight dynamics are on point as well. Rotation and flare physics are usually the two big immersion killers for me, and they nailed it! The A2A Commanche isn’t a fair 1:1 comparison in that the DA-42 is a tough aircraft to model well because in comparison, the FADEC and modern day automation make this aircraft feel much more “solid”, and less like a personality you’re trying to caress or coerce each time you operate the machine. Diving into the systems will require you to really understand the machine and how much complexity is happening within it’s automation behind the scenes. I’m truly in awe at how realistic this feels to the real aircraft. My only request for future updates is that I wish there was things such as pitot covers, chocks, etc. As well as a GPU so I could sit there and play with the G1000 without having to run an engine. For a RC 1.0 this is really, really well done! The sim can never have too many complex high fidelity GAs 🙂 I've been playing around with it today and I love it. Can't compare it to A2A as I don't have that installed but this was one I wanted for along time. I will say there's not too much you can say with a model that's using the default WT Garmin outside of flight model, visual model, and idiosyncrasy of the aircraft itself (FADEC, modeled circuit breakers, etc). In VR there's a little to be desired as the seat position isn't set correctly at start and the textures in VR is lacking a bit on the forward panel. Haven't done to much with it in 2D. YD sees to cause the aircraft to rock back and forth. I have to turn it off as the plane becomes too unstable on my end. Overall I'm happy with it and I know updates will only make it better. February 11, 20242 yr Just noticed if you buy the Da42 from OrbX this weekend you get double loyalty points ("orbs") which means you get enough to grab a free copy of OG20 Fairways Airport for MSFS if you don't already have it.

February 11, 20242 yr Short answer is no it does not compare to the Comanche. It is also an unfair comparison as far as I am concerned. I get it though. That is the benchmark we all use. I have never flown or been in a Diamond plane, so I cant say if it flies like the real thing. Someone else will have to vouch for that. I certainly hope so or else this plane has nothing going for it. As far as simming goes. I would compare it more to the Cessna 310. That would be a fair comparison.
