If this is happening every flight, it is most likely because you have set your UserCfg.opt file to read only. AutoFPS needs write access to restore your settings correctly and if it can't do that it will not delete this backup file on exit, hence why the message pops up every restart. I checked the Properties of my UserCfg.opt files in both sims, and in both cases the Read-only box is not checked, and under the Security tab everything is Allowed and nothing is Denied. This makes sense because I didn't even know I could make the UserCfg.opt file read-only. Is there something else I can check/try? Thanks, Al

August 24, 2025Aug 24 Just to close the issue of the UserCfg.opt.AutoFPS backup file problem discussed above, Reset XPDR's suggestion of doing a clean install of the app followed by a computer reboot to make sure all the necessary redistributables were up to date solved the problem. Great support -- thanks! Al Edited August 24, 2025Aug 24 by ark
August 24, 2025Aug 24 Just a couple of " stupid" questions ? 1. how can I make the ui bigger ? The right hand side is clipped. 2. how can I make the app auto start with MS2024 ?

The right hand side is clipped. 2. how can I make the app auto start with MS2024 ? 1. The UI is fixed in size and generally overflows to the right hand side like you are experiencing because you have increased the default Text Size in Windows settings. If so, I suggest you reduce it to default (usually far left on the slider) then set Windows Scaling higher instead, which I do with all my monitors with scaling ranging from 100% to 300%, and the app (and everything else in Windows) will scale up correctly. 2. As covered in the readme, auto start with MSFS is an option when you run the installer. 9800X3D | 4090 | 64GB | 2+1TB NVME | 2TB SSD | 2TB HDD | 85/50/43” TVs | Quest 3 | DOF H3 Motion Rig | Buttkicker | T.16000M Flight Kit MSFS @ 4K Ultra DLSS Performance FG 80 FPS | VR VDXR Godlike 80Hz SSW | MSFS VR DLSS Quality, Ultra Preset - Windows 11 Acer Nitro 5 | i5-11400H | RTX 3060 6 GB | 32GB DDR4 | 15.6" FHD IPS 144Hz | 2 x 512 GB SSD | Windows 11
August 24, 2025Aug 24 Thanks. I remember the scaling now. I have it on auto update and the start up doesn't appear there, so I'll use the installer. Thanks for the great program.

Thanks for the great program. You can use the installer at any time to change startup options, get the latest redistributables or switch between normal window and hide to system tray, then click the update button. The only option that will nuke your settings is Clean Install, which should be reasonably apparent by its name and is generally only used in the rare event of a config file file being corrupted. 9800X3D | 4090 | 64GB | 2+1TB NVME | 2TB SSD | 2TB HDD | 85/50/43” TVs | Quest 3 | DOF H3 Motion Rig | Buttkicker | T.16000M Flight Kit MSFS @ 4K Ultra DLSS Performance FG 80 FPS | VR VDXR Godlike 80Hz SSW | MSFS VR DLSS Quality, Ultra Preset - Windows 11 Acer Nitro 5 | i5-11400H | RTX 3060 6 GB | 32GB DDR4 | 15.6" FHD IPS 144Hz | 2 x 512 GB SSD | Windows 11

I thought I was going mad when I kept seeing the clouds changing knowing I had set this to Off but just realised it's in the 2020 config but not 2024 😊 I'm looking in to this now and in non-expert mode, which I assume you were refering to as you referenced DecCloudQNonExpert, cloud quality is never changed for MSFS 2024. This is the settings initialisation code for MSFS 2024: if (isMSFS2024) { DecCloudQ[(int)appProfiles.NonExpert] = false; ReduceCloudQ[(int)appProfiles.NonExpert] = false; } If you actually meant expert mode, they can be disabled too, even when using auto settings reduction higher than LODs only as long as you choose Custom, as follows: As such, I don't see anything that needs to be changed to achieve what you want. Did you mean something else? 9800X3D | 4090 | 64GB | 2+1TB NVME | 2TB SSD | 2TB HDD | 85/50/43” TVs | Quest 3 | DOF H3 Motion Rig | Buttkicker | T.16000M Flight Kit MSFS @ 4K Ultra DLSS Performance FG 80 FPS | VR VDXR Godlike 80Hz SSW | MSFS VR DLSS Quality, Ultra Preset - Windows 11 Acer Nitro 5 | i5-11400H | RTX 3060 6 GB | 32GB DDR4 | 15.6" FHD IPS 144Hz | 2 x 512 GB SSD | Windows 11
August 27, 2025Aug 27 Did something with SU3 effect GPU utilization? My GPU utilization is consistently 20% lower than typical. On average my gpu utilization is right around 65%. SU2 had GPU utilization at 80+ basically all the time. The only way I’m able to achieve pre SU3 performance, is by lowering TLOD Max to 100. Prior to SU3 I was running it at 200 with no issues. Also, if I am below my Target FPS Lock of 45, and my TLOD is at 200, shouldn't it automatically lower to get closer to the target? Do I need to check the TLOD Min box in expert settings for that to happen? I’m running a 5080, 5800x3d, 64 gb ram, on a Reverb G2
August 27, 2025Aug 27 @Reset XPDR Did 2 flights with 04.5.6-test 1 At deoarture and arrival tLOD went down to 25 and I also thought that Clouds went from Ultra to High. Only after a restart at deoarture it worked correctly. The same with the Approach/Landing. tLOD went down to 25 again + 1 LvL down. Restart on the ground amd back to tLOD 50 again. The sim had no issues with 60 FPS ( Locked 30 + FG ). Did this flight a few times the last 3 weeks and never exoerienced this. Exactly how that affects GPU or CPU utilisation, I am not sure. 12 hours ago, FakeWayne said: Also, if I am below my Target FPS Lock of 45, and my TLOD is at 200, shouldn't it automatically lower to get closer to the target? Your question implies you are using non-expert mode so It very much depends on you MSFS default settings are and which flight type profile you have chosen. The easiest way for me to tell what is going on is for you to message me the contents of your associated log file, located in %appdata%\MSFS_AutoFPS\log, and I will take a look. 9800X3D | 4090 | 64GB | 2+1TB NVME | 2TB SSD | 2TB HDD | 85/50/43” TVs | Quest 3 | DOF H3 Motion Rig | Buttkicker | T.16000M Flight Kit MSFS @ 4K Ultra DLSS Performance FG 80 FPS | VR VDXR Godlike 80Hz SSW | MSFS VR DLSS Quality, Ultra Preset - Windows 11 Acer Nitro 5 | i5-11400H | RTX 3060 6 GB | 32GB DDR4 | 15.6" FHD IPS 144Hz | 2 x 512 GB SSD | Windows 11

August 29, 2025Aug 29 Hi @Reset XPDR having a great time so far, was wondering if the expert settings can be graphics mode specific. For example I like to switch back to flat screen once in cruise and would like expert settings that are specific to NFR that I wouldn't use with VR.
