MSFS Auto FPS App

I have a 9800X3D and 4090. If your display supports G-Sync, then you don’t need to limit frames anymore... You should set V-Sync on in Nvidia Control Panel (NOT in MSFS) and Reflex low latency mode on in MSFS and that combo with G-Sync will give you a tear free experience AND auto cap FPS a few below your refresh rate. V-Sync with low latency mode basically works to cap FPS automatically now. But don’t take my word for it, feel free to search around.

As for Auto FPS, I run it in full auto mode - no expert settings and let it pick the target rate. Your system (like mine) is so powerful, there’s no point wasting time trying to micromanage the settings. In MSFS I have settings maxed. TLOD 400 and OLOD 200. AutoFPS will target around 100-110 and I’ll get TLOD up to about 800 in flight and it will come down to smooth out the load on landings.

Thanks a lot!

Yesterday AutoFPS was opening and working fine for me. Suddenly today it won't open. When I click the icon for it I get a brief hourglass and then nothing. I even reinstalled it.

Anyone know why that might be? Very frustrating.

If it was working recently and is now not in the way that you state, it is most likely a corrupt config file. Try re-running the installer and select the Clean Install option.

That worked but unfortunately I lost all my settings. Oh well. Thanks.

Sorry about that. I should have got you to send me your config files before the clean install so I could see what was causing the crash and try to stop it happening again, but it is too late. I will remember for the next user that encounters this.

I think I've found out what may have been the update bug we discussed a little while back.

Thanks to the new on-screen debug info, I watched it during the last update. Initially, it got a few permissions problems - but it retried a few seconds later and proceeded without further problems.

I think the issue occurs when the user clicks on the update button too soon. For some reason, Windows sometimes seems to take a while to scan/read the permissions and hitting the update button during that delay could be the culprit.

Interesting. I am thinking that as long as it is deleting it, even if it does have to have that second try while waiting for permissions to settle, that it should still do the job as is.

I've just dated to su3. I was disappointed with the GPU around 95/99 percent.

Enabled the app and it dropped to 65/75. Visuals look great.  CPU up from 30 to 45 which is great.  Donno what's happening but it is such a great app for the Sim. Thank you for your efforts. Best add-on , along with add-on linker, the Sim has ever had.

It is really, really good.

I'm particularly pleased that you can basically install it and forget about it - while retaining the option to tweak the settings later, if the need arises.

Yep. And updating ro su3 is easy with add-on linker. Just disable all add-ons, update, and enable what you want.

Easy.,.
