Strange texture patches in runways...

It’s a DX12 related bug that has been there since SU10/11 IIRC. In my experience it’s not airport-specific - it can happen anytime, anywhere. Granted, DX12 is still listed as being in beta.

And such a shame it isn't fixed after that long time ( a year now  more or less ) from Asobo/MS - what a mess !!!

cheers 🤔

I’m just curious… When you see the ground patches are you using the Fenix?

I see them in numerous places and I'm not using Fenix (just a GA guy most of the time,).

I have 16x set in game and in the Nvidia control panel.  Maybe that is my problem.

I'm not sure, but I think the problem may have become worse since I upgraded the dlss dll from stock up to v3.5.0 (3.5.1 was not a good option - can't remember why offhand).  I live with it but would prefer it if I could fix it.

So I noticed something with this issue the other night. I already know it has zero to do with anistropic filtering as that issue is related to black grid lines across runways and taxiways.

My experience with this issue initially was seeing brown low-res square patches across the airfield at EIDW. When I was lined up at 28L I could see them spread out across the runway in front of me and as I rolled closer to them they would disappear.

I was doing a flight from Denver on Sunday and I noticed some of the same brown low-res "squares" close to the terminal building. I used the drone cam and went up to around 200 meters or so above the terminal building and thats when I noticed that the square patches were actually very low-res Bing map tiles being layered on top of the payware textures. I could see 1 dimensional aircraft shadows on the ground beside 3D FSLTL traffic and in random spots around the taxiways. When I would get close to the tiles, they would disappear.

Does anyone know what would cause this? Servers? DX12? It seems strange that it happens at payware airports and is probably be a larger bug than first thought if its overriding payware textures.

This is a DX12 bug in MSFS and nothing to do with settings or anything you have done - You cannot fix it yourself.
We all have to wait for Asobo to fix it.  They do know about it but are dragging their feet on fixing it as usual.

Although it was mentioned again in the latest Twitch developer session, I am not confident that they even understand the issue.
Similar to the annoying tile swapping issue in DX11 occurring globally which we have had for 18 months or more, and they thought was only confined to Malta.

If we get a fix for the DLSS blurry flat panels, and the tile issues in both DX11 and DX12 included in the final version of SU15, I will be absolutely delighted (as would a lot of other people I am sure).  However, I would also be extremely surprised.

I know for sure it wasn't anything I had done but I thought I would add that there was a connection with Bing Maps.

Has there been silence on this from Asobo? Some of the communication decisions these companies make are bewildering.

I want to believe that they're all just stoners and they forget but that's clutching at straws.
