New volumetric clouds P3D v5.4

Featured Replies

Hello Alexandre,

For a long time I didn't touch the volumetric clouds. A few days ago I tried your mod. I must say that it looks much better than before. So I think I'm gonna use volumetric clouds more often, thanks to your mod. There is one question I have. In the latest readme (New file august 30) you write"

HDR.hlsl and AutoExposure

Goes to C:\Program Files\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v5\ShadersHLSL\PostProcess

Problem is I can only find HDR.hlsl, not the Autoexposure file. The Autoexposure file in my P3D config dates from 4/26/2022.

Keep up your good work and thank you.

  • Hey nice effort. I plugged the files into P3D 5.3 (5.3 because 5.4 has introduced some breaking bugs LM are clearly not intending to resolve). Where in the first couple of minutes the conten

Hello Rein,

Thanks!

Regarding the autoexpossure I was working on that, but didn't find any major improvements, I would include into that new mod, but at last moment I removed it. I will update the readme to make sure not make any future confusion.

Hi Alexandre,

Thanks for your reply. All clear for me now. Enjoying your mod.

Feel free to jump in and make any changes you prefer.

Note: I also use ReShade to "tune" things visually.

Like adding ambient occulsion, sharpening, colour toning and debanding.

Cheers

I think it looks really good, but we all have our own preferences.  I’m really impressed with that YouTube video with the pink colors on the horizon.  I could never get EA to look like that after years of trying.

Do these shader modifications only work in V5.3 or will they also work in V5.4?

thanks

It´s made to work in v5.4 and based in 5.4 with some stuff of v6.0. I guess it will work for those still in v5.3

Thanks.  I gave it a shot but can’t get it to look the way I want it to because EA has the horizon haze that looks like a wall while using Active Sky.  I appreciate your work on this though.

There's a setting in ActiveSky removing this fog wall and since you have it, you can check your settings then.

Do you know which setting it is?  I tried the below recommendation from Active Sky which reduces it a little, but it is still visible.

It's the volumetric fog depiction when visibility is lower. It's how it depicts in P3D. You can increase visibility using minimum visibility slider options to reduce this, but then the vis obscuration isn't accurate. You may want to look at shader mods that can adjust the colorization of volumetric fog

Maybe there is still something remaining but for me, it is good. I don't use volumetric clouds but EA.

Look following picture. For me, that's good. It's beatyful weather and a little haze but not the brown ribbon, we had some time ago with default P3D.
