March 24, 20242 yr So I'm currently working on my real world 737 type rating and wanted to use the PMDG 737 as a study aid for flows... So I open up FS on my laptop boom crashes on the loading screen with flightsimulator.exe as the faulting module... I try everything that 20 years of dealing with CTDs in flight simulator have taught me.. Even did a clean install of the sim, removing hundreds of addons and a download that took over a day on slow hotel internet... Nothing still crashing... Ive spent the past few days between study sessions trying to figure it out...Then I notice the time on my computer isn't correct... I see that auto time is turned off... I turn that back on and sync the time and suddenly the sim works again..... Like seriously Microsoft the sim breaks if the time on my PC is wrong.... No other program had an issue... March 24, 20242 yr I think PSolk had this issue a few weeks ago! March 24, 20242 yr I don't think requiring the time base used by the server and the client to be synchronized should be unexpected or too surprising. MSFS is a real-time server-based application...having a common time reference matters. How about a little error handling? If the time isn't synced, inform the user instead of just crashing it out and leaving them to play Sherlock Holmes. March 24, 20242 yr Yeah, Asobo/MS/Azure should have always focused on bugs or other issues before adding content. March 24, 20242 yr @z06z33 Good luck with the rating. I got as far as Multi-Engine instrument way back and then ran out of money. It's an expensive dream we all have.

Its an odd mix of 90s tech and 1960s basic systems...Honestly even the Maxx even seems kinda dated compared to the E175 atleast automation wise. The 737 is a good plane though and I'd much rather fly it than an Airbus despite all the issues with Boeing.. ATP MEL,CFI,CFII,MEI. Type Ratings B-737, ERJ-190,ERJ-170

If you're younger than 55 there's always time. If you have a CSEL with IR and CFI you can make it to a regional in about a year with that sunny AZ weather. The covid "hiring wave" is over, so regionals are soon going to require a 5-7 year commitment before flowing into a slot in the majors, but the pay is *WAY* higher than back in the day. I think Endeavor starts at $110 an hour for first year FO's IIRC. If it's still your dream, that is! Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory. The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire. To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune. There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you. It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.
March 25, 20242 yr Thanks. I'm quite a bit older than that now ! I'm just enjoying my retirement but good luck with your endeavors.
