The 4 Things that will Disappoint in MSFS 2024

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

After 40 long years of flight simulation and almost 4 years of MSFS I don't think these 'as-real-as-it-gets' expectations are unreasonable.
The four things that will really disappoint in MSFS2024... if MSFS still has:

1. Dark lines on the water.
Black lines in the water - Bug Reporting Hub / Scenery and Airports - Microsoft Flight Simulator Forums

2. Suicidal ground personnel.
Airport ground crew are they just stupid in MSFS2020? - Discussion Hub / General Discussion - Microsoft Flight Simulator Forums
If Prepar3d can do crew animation, you can do it too!
(15) Dancing Zombie in Prepar3D - YouTube

3. Non-functional windshield wipers (eg. rain on the default King Air).
Functional windshield wipers - Official Microsoft Flight Simulator / Wishlist - Microsoft Flight Simulator Forums
These guys did it 3 years ago. Hire them already!
Assetto Corsa - Rain on windscreen (youtube.com)

4. No pilot-controlled lighting (PCL).
Pilot-controlled lighting (PCL) - Official Microsoft Flight Simulator / Wishlist - Microsoft Flight Simulator Forums
Real life PCL...
Playing with the pilot-controlled lighting at Paine Field (youtube.com)

Immersion killers all. Not a dev, not a pilot, not hard-core. Just a long-time newbie user. 🙂

Hardware: i7-8700k, GTX 1070-ti, 32GB ram, NVMe/SSD drives with lots of free space.
Software: latest Windows 10 Pro, P3Dv4.5+, FSX Steam, and lots of addons (100+ mostly Orbx stuff).

Add to that: The many buildings and homes that look like country barns.

It is still in development, so how do you know that these issues will still exist at release ?

I am still trying to work out if this "black lines" issue is connected to the "land bars" issue that I have mentioned elsewhere. The "land bars" that I see on my PC do not look like these "black lines" (they are much thicker, and more like straight and narrow strips of land that should not be there), but they are generally located in estuaries and other coastal bodies of water.

There is nothing like a cheerful and positive view of the future and indeed, this is
nothing like a cheerful and positive view of the future.
While they would all be nice to see, a small amount of tolerance makes them really
easy to overlook.
Not to mention that this doom-laden view is a little premature.

In classic Avsim fashion, people are already lodging complaints against a simulator that hasn't even been released yet!

those will all be more than offset by not only 4, but 4 million, and in the professional version by 4 billion of realistically placed new pebbles in shallow, transparent waters and river banks. Joerg Neumann was so  overwhelmed and blown away when he recently saw this latest tech in the new version of Forza Horizon 5 racing, that he decided to apply this also to MSFS 2024. imagine not hundreds, not thousands but billions of pebbles. now we know why they hired 500 new staff. makes me wonder if those pebbles couldn't have been placed by AI instead.

"Also, ground detail experience in FS2024 is aimed to rival that of Forza Horizon 5 according to Jorg:

"I flew over a woodland area in FS2024 the other day and choose to land at a site where it was possible to - in detail - identify thousands of pebbles under the water of a stream"

My glass is (always) half full, but I suppose there is nothing wrong with striving for perfection except the complaints never come from those that create! Which is something I've noticed with critics from all walks of life, which is a shame, because encouragment gives far better results.

smh, that you highlighted the negatives of the game before it was released.  The positives will overshadow any negatives.

One thing that won't disappoint for sure - the level of moaning about it on these forums.
