Does anyone know if the Vickers Viscount

Featured Replies

Is being made? Or anything similar. I like planes like the Constellation, DC-3, Electra (both) and the Boeing 247. My favorite at the moment is the old Electra. Hoping to see some more classics inbound. What I'd really like to see is the shorter L-749 Constellation.

No news from anyone on the Viscount unfortunately.

The thing is, there are so many aircraft we all want.  I could write a list of about a hundred myself, but I fear we will have to wait many years for the 'back catalogue' to appear in MSFS2020 and 2024.

We were just about getting there in FSX / P3D after many years.  You could find virtually any model you wanted, of varying quality of course, but I think production has slowed due to the higher expectations of people these days in the sim.

The push for higher depth and quality is a double edged sword.  You just can't have both high quality and prolific release rates as their just isn't the amount of talent out there to achieve both at the moment.  And when some of the more budget developers release aircraft, like SC, the sim snobs and pedants moan like hell and jump all over them.

My most flown airliner in FSX was the 757, so at least we have one of those coming from Bluebird.

For GA it was the Carenado Apache and Navajo, but even Carenado seemed to have slowed down just recently.  I have no idea what there next release is, but I would hazard a guess at the Piper Tomahawk to try to beat JuatFlight with their release, which is another problem... the amount of duplication while other aircraft don't even show on the horizon.  We will probably have a couple of 737 Max's to add to the duplicate list by the end of the year.  Meanwhile, aircraft like the iconic B707 and DC-8, nowhere near.

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Joerg Neumann knows. they will be included with MSFS2024. my guess.

Hmmm... Should I ?

OK...

There are indeed two schools of simmers : those are never satiated by what is on the market and always willing yet another model and those happy with a few good more refined models.

I don't know what you call a  simsnob - I don't even want to know as I may be part of this crowd  😋 (snob moi ?) - but I know that If this hobby has high quality simulations today it is because a lot of us have for 40 years been pushing hard and loudly developers to do their best.

Not river counters but simmers willing to find in a simcraft some of the idiosyncrasies of the real thing. Perfection is not of this world but a good approximation which goes beyond being screenshot fodder. There are the softcore and hardcore simmers. I'd call myself a midcore 😄.When I buy an aircraft known to be a groundlooper b*tch, I want her to ... groundloop.I want some quality and time to enjoy my purchases. A simcraft is not like a tissue paper you discard after a couple of sneezes.  And politely saying it on a forum, is not moaning.  I would call it market feedback 😉

The Caravelle is scheduled to be another French local legend at some point.

Since we haven’t had any British local legends I would have thought the Viscount an ideal candidate for this treatment.

I'm proud to be in the first group. If something I like comes out, I will buy it. I'm not worried about cold starts I just point and fly lol. I am determined to figure out how to navigate by radio in the 247 though.

Viscount was the first plane I ever flew in. I saved up my pocket money for a round trip Birmingham to Heathrow to plane spot for the day with a friend. I think it was about thirteen pounds round trip 😁

  Similar!  Except mine was a British Midland SD-3-30 if I recall correctly, on a 'standby' ticket.  Those were the days!

Yeah. Did it twice , BEA both times.  I think the 2nd time was 13pounds and the first time was 9pounds.  I had another friend who did it and was in a Vanguard, I was so jealous ☹️

I flew in both quite a few times in the 50s/60s - and twice - from Cyprus to London return on BEA

in the Viscount - I used to enjoy the Viscount in P3D until MSFS

I often think a great product line for Just Flight would be the HS748 followed by the BAe ATP, a natural progression from the BAe146 and RJ line of British airliners.

I would certainly take the HS748 with some nice RR Dart sounds.  And imagine the potential repaints for that!

I'd sooner the HS748 than the Viscount myself, then perhaps a BAC 1-11. Most likely would be Aeroplane Heaven and/or JustFlight as the have form in this area. But right now JF need to crack on with the Avro RJ!

Did the same,  Birmingham to Heathrow for a days spotting, Bea Bac 1-11. 🙂

Quite agree, get the RJ and F100/70 launched before moving on.

As an ex HS748 pilot I sadly found the Aeroplane Heaven rendition a bit off the mark performance and systems wise, but nothing that couldn’t be revised in a MSFS version.
