Been thinking about your comment for a couple of days. As I agree it would've been very helpful to include it in the video. If you remember the video - ASFS in preset vs passive mode in 10 different locations across the globe. I intended to include it, but decided against it as it didn't fit the "format" of the video. Which was to make brief (not in-depth) comparisons of how different the cloudscape can look. I didn't write down the time, but I realised just now that the Flight Recorder .flt files were still in the recycle bin. So I now that I have the time, I can use ASFS historical weather for the METARs. All flights were done on the 27th of April. So I guesstimated and re-loaded the flight and let ASFS do the interpolation based on the approximate location. Re-loading the flight with historical weather corresponded very well with what was shown in the video. The rest were easy as I started (mid-flight) close to airports. Btw I find the weather information in the conditions tab (apart from the METAR) very interesting. E.g.: Iceland: Quote FEW010 extends to:1365 feet (Cloud type:ST), (Through metar) SCT016 extends to:2865 feet (Cloud type:CU), (Through metar) BKN031 extends to:14954 feet (Cloud type:CU), (Through metar) Visibility interpolation based on: -BIEG 23nm SE (9999), BIVM 183nm SW (9999), BIAR 74nm NW (9999) Altimeter interpolation based on: -BIEG 24nm SE (Q1014), BIVM 185nm SW (Q1013), BIAR 74nm NW (Q1019) This station has complete Precipitation information. No interpolation needed NOTE: Clouds, visibility and precipitation reported are the ones from the active cell weather UAAA: Clouds: Broken at 5000 feet, Scattered at 6200 feet, Precipitation: Heavy rain, Thunderstorms in the vicinity RJTT: Clouds: Few at 1000 feet, Scattered at 11000 feet, Broken at 15000 feet YBBN: Clouds: Scattered at 4300 feet, Broken at 5200 feet, Overcast at 6800 feet, Precipitation: Light rain Also interesting: when loading historical weather, the following are downloaded: METAR TAF GFS Forecast +6h GFS Forecast +12h Quote The Global Forecast System (GFS) is a National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) weather forecast model that generates data for dozens of atmospheric and land-soil variables, including temperatures, winds, precipitation, soil moisture, and atmospheric ozone concentration. April 29, 20242 yr This should be interesting, flying from KIAH to KMSY, through a front. And I saw lightning and heard thunder in MSFS for the first time in well over a year and a half. 😁 Edited April 29, 20242 yr by Bobsk8

April 29, 20242 yr Africa. Where's that place? Africa? Oh! It's the continent MSFS has not yet discovered. Active Sky Review? Hello? Anyone try Africa? Are all reviews around the so called "1st world". Do you think this only applies to that zone? Maybe it greatly enhances "unknown" continents? Makes me question the focus of these forums. That would be the true test of Active Sky... I just take off and fly somewhere, and look out the window, and see what it looks like. So far. what I see with AS is pretty good.

I'm just surprised with the comparison exercises here in 1st world areas which already have great default weather depictions which turn out meaningless when comparing to AS..Try Africa. Then the result will be noticed with Active Sky.
