Clunky - maybe. But extremely reliable. I use PF3 (also for MSFS), which does the stuff perfectly the newer offerings are still struggling with. Of course it also has it's drawbacks, but if I want to enjoy a normal A-to-B flight, that's what I choose.

That's the choice we have, and are always going to have: Use the tried & tested, but sometimes outdated alternative, or the flashy & pretty newer one and suffer bugs and missing features. It comes down to personal preference.

As if older software did not have issues. They do and, unlike new releases, they aren’t typically improved at the same pace, if at all.

They do, of course, but generally fewer.

Coming from a software development background I can say all software has issues, and the more "agile" the development, the more broken functionality and new and exciting bugs that end up going go into the too hard basket 😉

A development manager once said to me, "we don't release to fix bugs, we release to make sales".

Eventually software maturity and stability will be achived provided the development of said software continues.

Cheers

Version 6 has almost everything I need or want:

Pro-Sim A320

JeeHell FMGS A320

Active Sky

Orbx (with a bit of work)

FSHud (showing promise for the future)

What’s missing?  Third-party support for airports.  Come on Flightbeam and FlyTampa, we need v6 compatible airports!

If I had better airports I would make the switch from v5.4 in a heartbeat.

Check out my website for some freeware P3Dv6 airports: https://sites.google.com/view/thep3dfiles/home

I'll be adding more as I convert them from P3Dv5 or update stock P3Dv6 airports.

I just discovered that GSX supports P3Dv6.  I saw it in some release notes, so I tried it, and lo and behold, the installer does recognize and support v6, and with a quick test, it does seem to work in the simulator.  However, the developer has not updated their web site to note this fact.

Now, given what a hot mess GSX is generally speaking, one could fairly question whether this is truly a good thing or not for P3Dv6.  I have mixed feelings about it myself, but somehow keep finding myself using it despite the frequent anguish.

In any case, it’s good to see 3rd party support for v6.  Funny how this developer keeps it a secret though.

I've been using GSX with P3D V6 since it came out and I've never encountered any particular problem.
There is also a possible interaction between GSX and FShud

Fully functioning PMDG birds.

Wish I knew how to to do this.

Anyone here going to the FlighSimExpo. Your chance to ask developers what they intend if any for P3Dv6. ORBX and PMDG.

LM as well they are still listed as third party developers.

It appears PMDG has pulled out of the show. They are having a problem with a product for that other sim.

@G-RFRY HI Raymond, I know you have some or all the PMDG aircraft in P6D using the HKEY tweak so I'M wondering if you have all the features working in those birds, like terrain and weather radar with Active Sky and the EFB?

No I still have V5 to fly IFR with my PMDG aircraft. I am using V6 to get used to the way it performs and tweaks.
