July 30, 20241 yr Moderator @IanHarrison, even without getting airborne I could just pan around the cockpit and see it was much smoother than at 30Hz. Have you assigned a key combo to toggling FG on/off? If you see 20/60 in the top left then it’s running. Pan around and then hit the key combo to disable it. The 20/60 display will disappear. Then pan again. Any difference? Ray (Cheshire, England). July 30, 20241 yr Yes I tried that. There's virtually no difference. With it enabled I got about 32 Without, it was around 31-33 fps. With it, the screen was a bit jumpy. Without, noticeably smoother. So, for whatever reason, it is not doing magic for me. Sad but true. Intel i7 6700K @4.3. 32gb Gskill 3200 RAM. Z170x Gigabyte m/b. 28" LG HD monitor. July 30, 20241 yr Moderator Sorry to hear that Ian. It might be the 1080 card which may not be compatible. Ray (Cheshire, England). July 30, 20241 yr Moderator Ian, a bit of searching for compatible graphics cards for FG revealed this article. https://www.eurogamer.net/digitalfoundry-2024-tested-the-dlss-3fsr-3-mod-that-brings-frame-generation-to-older-nvidia-cards#:~:text=Frame generation went open source,to RTX 40-series GPUs. It looks like 2000 series cards are the minimum spec required. You could consider picking up a second-hand one on EBay or equivalent in your country if funds permit. Other than that I can’t see a cheaper way of doubling your fps. Ray (Cheshire, England). I'm not sure about that, Ray: @IanHarrison must be doing something wrong in the LS settings, or overloading his sim before appying LSFG. I can get FG in my laptop, which has no dedicated GPU. In FSX (no P3D for my laptop) it works beautifully. FS9 is a bit more picky. A 1080 should be way more capable than my iGPU. July 30, 20241 yr Author 15 hours ago, IanHarrison said: I have now tried just about every option. I am flying a non-challenging route with no heavy scenery hits. With the recommended settings, the frame counter shows a max. of 60, which seems to be correct. However, there is absolutely no improvement in actual FPS. In fact, without Lossless I am getting about 32fps, with Lossless it is around 27fps and the Sim. seems to be not quite as fluid.. It looks as if I am one of the unlucky guys whose system is not compatible. GPU load is averaging 87%. I will complete the flight ( a 6 hour one) and see how it progresses. Lossless Scaling's frame generator will use a certain amount of GPU ~ from what I've observed - so there does need to be a bit of overhead left in the GPU. Otherwise it should function as the app purports to support Nvidia 10 series cards and upwards. Have you taken a look at this vid ? It shows P3D set at 20 fps with Lossless Scaling setting the frame generation to 60 fps along with vsync enabled in Lossless Scaling and the LS settings used. The actual P3D sim fps is shown in the bottom right and the generated frame rate is shown in the top left. It's the previous release of LS so the UI options are a little different, does it help ? July 31, 20241 yr Hello everyone, After reading all the posts in this topic, I too jumped on the Frame Generation bandwagon and bought the lossless scaling app today. Apparently the app has been updated as my download is version 2.10.1. So following the here published installation and setup recommendations was not possible as apparently the new version introduced some changes. I however manged to set it up and got it to work but to no avail. Maybe I did not set up something right. When hitting the "scale" button, the FPS remain at 20/20 with the default F35 at the default airport . Following Ray's example I loaded my PMDG NGXu at Aerosoft Heathrow with 100% AIG trafic. FPS remained at 20. Deactivating the scaling my P3D V5.4 FPS is between 20 -23 when taxiing around EGLL and in VC view. FPS goes to 25 in external view and jump to 37 when in tower view. My flying is always smooth, no matter the plane (mostly PMDG 737/777/747),so I think I don't need this app though I'm sure it works as intended for others. Cheers All. Fouad Chakib
July 31, 20241 yr You have something wrong with your setup. Assuming you have some GPU to spare, you should see an immediate 2x or 3x frame rate, period.
July 31, 20241 yr Moderator @nizar_AF, what CPU, GPU, RAM please? Is monitor set to 60Hz? 20 set in RTSS? x3 selected in the app? Ray (Cheshire, England). July 31, 20241 yr Thans Ray for your reply. My system is i7 13700k, 32 Gb RAM, GPU RTX3060 with 12Gb vram. Yes my monitor is set at 60Hz and indeed I did select X3 in the app. However I don't have RTSS, is it required? Fouad Fouad Chakib
July 31, 20241 yr Moderator 2 minutes ago, nizar_AF said: However I don't have RTSS, is it required? Your system is more than sufficient. You need to set a limit of 20fps. It’s not recommended to do it in P3D itself. That should always remain at Unlimited. It can be done in Nvidia Control Panel but I never tried that. I am already using MSI Afterburner/ RTSS so it was easy to set 20 in RTSS. After doing that I launched P3D and when fully loaded launched the FG app and selected the key combo to trigger the action. As soon as it’s running you’ll see 20/60 top left and panning around the cockpit will confirm how smooth it is. Ray (Cheshire, England). July 31, 20241 yr Thanks Ray. I did limit FPS to 20 in Nvidia CP and it is set to unlimited in the sim. I'll try again tomorrow after installin RTSS and see if it changes anything. Fouad Chakib
