The best discord channels are the ones that enable the forum style sections where topics can be better organized.

Agreed, and I think TFDi’s discord is a great example of a neatly organized discord channel, where it is easy to find relevant sections, like announcements. No need to go into the busy and disorganized “general chat” sections. It takes some getting used to, but from my perspective it’s a lot easier navigating around discord now that I’ve got some practice.

I really fail to see why some people who are interested in the MD11 refuse to buy it because of the discord issue.

Dang.  They lost me then.  I was going to buy this today but to me at my age I detest Discord.  It’s very discordant.

  • Agree. Don't know why so many say it's great. Awful, disorganised way to promulgate information.

IMHO, Discord resembles a library where everyone comes in and tosses the books into a few giant, unorganized piles.  Good luck finding anything specific, especially if you're coming late to the party

Also, Discord support is usually much faster than e-mails/site tickets.

I don't understand why you'd knock back buying this just because they use Discord.

Their discord page is setup really well, with separate general chat, update and support areas.  The dev, support and moderator personnel are all on there actively engaging with the community.

Well done TFDI.

I'll give you an example. I have a simple question about the GPWS inhibitor, I think it doesnt work as I still get warning flying traffic patterns. Took me a while to find the manual on the website, it isn't downloadable, nor does it say anything about GPWS operation. This was the beginning of my frustrations.

Nothing in the knowledge base.

No forum to post a quick question.

I was going to join their Discord since there is no forum but alas, Discord wants me to verify my account through email and the links they send me fail. Also, like others have said, Discord is a convoluted mess to navigate.

My last resort is to submit a help desk ticket. And since there is no forum, I suppose I'll submit one for every question I have. So I'm going to be investing hours instead of minutes getting my query to TFDI. I like these guys and their product but between the inability to download documentation and having to jump through hoops for simple answers, it is a bit frustrating.

They have customer  discord forum that create separate threaded discussions. Under community support, MD-11.  Also make sure you have joined TDFi account to the discord.  Then you get access to much more than public.  Also access to the updates.

I am a little upset that on my first flight, the sim crashed 6 hours in, and it appears resuming from a save file is impossible (cold and dark panel, falls out of sky)

Is this in the works... or am I doing something wrong? Not joining their Discord, I had a bad experience during the 717 issues.

Hello, using ancient I7-7700K / 1080Ti with moderate settings at 55" and two 21" screens for the displays by Panel Popout manager I have not one CTD, the plane is working stable and without stutterings. But I have no mod's in my community folder, only sceneries and aircrafts. Maybe that is a reason for, and for the GPWS question - unfortunately there is no EGPWS included, so the GPWS TERR OVRD SW has no function ,,, and for me the discord(s) are annoying, but maybe thats a question of age. Best regards

Ralf Andreas

And speaking of the disadvantages of Discord, I actually have access to their channel, had a problem tonight, and guess what, its down, or seems to be 😞

Sigh...
