August 9, 20241 yr Terrible. That really is in a spin isn’t it, quite often the media and public incorrectly describe an aircraft as being in a spin , but that aircraft was in a full aerodynamic spin. I’m guessing some major asymmetry from the prop disks could have been at play to get into that state. 787 captain. August 9, 20241 yr Author Obviously it is not possible to make any hypothesis about the causes of this accident, however it is worth noting that other pilots who flew in the path of the crashed ATR 72 reported ice formations in flight.

August 9, 20241 yr Icing again on an ATR?. I doubt it's the same problem that happened to several ATRs during their first years of commercial operation, due to a design flaw in the wing ice-protection system. Hopefully the investigation will conclude what exactly happened this time. Definitively ATR has not a good track record regarding fatal accidents. Puoi vedere i dati di volo (velocità e altezza) cliccando sulla piccola icona "grafico" sotto Tempo. I did not take into account the ground speed because the significant variations in speed were recorded throughout the "entire flight" and I do not know if they are reliable because it would seem strange to me that the plane arrived and constantly maintained the cruising altitude at 17,000 feet for over an hour with all those significant and rapid variations in speed without, at least up to now, there being no reports from the pilots or from the air traffic controllers of these abnormal variations in speed during the flight until 16.20 UTC when the ATR 72 crashed to the ground. Obviously, it will be the data from the black box, found almost intact, that will establish what the speeds were during the flight and, I hope, what caused this disaster.
