Aerosoft EDDF Frankfurt will be released on 5th September

No Orbx Frankfurt is actually the same as the default MSFS Frankfurt. They bought it from Orbx

IIRC Orbx updated the payware version some time after the world update launched to add more buildings.

At least I know they said they would do that I don't know if they ever did.

Either way you can't buy them anymore.

While we're all waiting, I want to give a shoutout to the people at VirtualFRA as well as Aviotek that both provided us with free versions of EDDF. Both of these are vast improvements over the handcra

I'd say that says more about certain people in that community than about the airport.

It's excellent. Perfect? No. But a solid 9 out of 10 worthy of Jo Erlend's work.

One of the unfortunate issues with its promotion is that official trailers and screenshots are very heavy on the filters (which are an unfortunate plague in promotion for MSFS and other simulators), so people see the product on their own sim that is likely not as crazy on filter use. It looks different, and they get disappointed.

Developers (and creators of trailers) should absolutely be requested to not use filters or any sort of post-production effects in their promotion, but unfortunately, there's too little pushback against it, so they don't care and they keep up what is essentially misleading advertising.

Here I am very happy with it. Surely there is some work to do (posted at the AD forums) but in general it looks and feels very good.

As I am using NV Freestyle filters + NVCP modified RHB settings + modified monitor settings it looks almost like the AS trailer.

You definitely can make the simulator look like that, but my issue with it is that 99% of potential customers don't use that kind of filters and post-production shenanigans, so it'd be nice (and would spare people some disappointment) if promotion was done with the airport paired with what the simulator actually looks like.

For me a great Airport, well done from the devs - thank you !!

And for me a very good performance and fluid, GSX seems to work, AI Traffic ( FSLTL )  seems also does a good job and for other things udates shure be dropped out the next coming weeks..

cheers 😉

This too for me also.  You’re not alone! 😎

Anyone tried FSHud with EDDF? Just wondering if AI will move in a realistic manner on the ground, and that AI don't get stuck at holding points. This is an issue with several payware airports.

The release caused people on VATSIM to go crazy. Frankfurt was already the busiest airport on the network, now it's just pure insanity. Earlier this day it was staffed with 5 Controllers 4 on the Airport and 1 on Arrival. Then they gave up, because it became too crowded. Now they are back with 5 on Ground and 3 on Arrival.

I just flew in from Vienna and just carried the 30 minutes extra fuel I took to the gate since the arrival was handled absolutely beautifully by the FRA ATC crew. Even got a short approach, turning final at 250 KIAS and slowed it right down (possible in the A320, not so much in an A321). Absolutely amazing what the guys in Frankfurt do these days with the amount of traffic.

When I started flying on VATSIM almost 20 years ago, I didn't even dare dream of such immersion, and now it's reality! The beauty of the sim, the amazing scenery with great performance, the insane realism of the Fenix, and to top it all of performances from VATSIM controllers that rival those of their real-world counterparts. Just an absolute joy! 😀

I gave up after like 20 mins on release day, after spawning at the gate A36 with A319, like 5 people spawned on top of me, seeing  soooo many people online, soooo many people cutting off each other on frequencies, not listening and following ATC instructions, the fellas from vatsim have some steel nerves and patience,  and I was like “ain’t nobody got time for that” and went offline. 😂spacer.png

I had two of these moments were my patience was tested after the controllers left and everyone was left to their own devices.

First was on taxi out right after I left the gate on N7 and some Embrear Pilot coming in showed the situational awareness of a mole. He came from N and taxied onto the Apron following N7 and at the crossroads with N8 where he should have gone straigt he started to make a right turn, right on the taxiway were I was. I just snapped: "Look before you taxi". He then stood there for a while until he realized that he had to move out of the way and made a 150° turn back left to taxi where he should have been going in the first place.

The second was an Austrian that taxied onto 18 via L and then just stood there on the Runway. I had already announced that I had lined up behind him at N and was going to depart after him. He just stood there. Then I asked why he was taxiing onto the 18 if he was not ready to take-off. He didn't answer. But it turned out he waited for a landing aircraft on 07R on short final. He should have just taxied abeam M and then take off from there if he was unsure if it was safe. There were already 3 aircraft at the hold short points waiting for him to get a move on.

Some people...

My personal pet peeve however is something I saw later at Düsseldorf, also not manned at the time Two landing aircraft were landing in direction 05, and aircraft were departing on 23.

In the real world direction 23 was active at the time. I see this often that people don't look at FR24 to check what the current real procedures are and then just decide on the wind instead of what is correct. They timed that perfectly. First of all the seperation between the landing traffic was too small and then the departing traffic and the landing traffic indeed did fly exactly into each other, which frustrated the departing pilot so much that he immidiately logged off.

Not listening to comms, flying in the wrong direction... a typical weekend with noobs who confuse VATSIM with the MSFS Online part.

I've never tried AVSIM. It seems that when there are controllers online (as you mentioned in your previous post), it works very well. If not: mayhem. People... 🤷‍♂️

Vatsim should really start considering banning users. But that is the topic for another day.
How are you guys enjoying FRA?

I like it a lot! Terminal buildings and all the rest look great, ground textures are OK but nothing special, taxiway markings and signs are nicely done and correct. In general, I like the "vibe" I get when taxiing in or out of the apron.

The best thing, however, is the good to acceptable peformance I get considering the size and detail of FRA and the milk-toastness of my PC.

I immediately turned off the rail station interior, as well as the additional road traffic, and - after having a quick look and deciding that I really didn't care - also the complex terminal interior. For VRAM reasons on my 3070, I also needed to turn down the OLOD to around 60 (which I feel doesn't impact visual fidelity that much). After all that, I get acceptable FPS on my "middle of the road as of 4 years ago" system when flying on VATSIM in the Fenix (i.e. heavy CPU load due to all the traffic), and always more than enough base FPS to let Frame Generation do its thing. Certainly performance is much, much better than with the Aviotek version, which was completely unflyable for me!

So overall, I'm just really stoked that we finally have a proper Frankfurt scenery. The VATSIM controllers in FRA are really second to none, and I've not flown into there really since MSFS came out, so I'm a happy camper 😄

BTW: they dropped the GSX profile on flightsim.to to be able to easier update this. And it already got an updat with minor fixes. I like this approach.
