Sayintentions.AI: New features

A shame AS had to reach out to this company in the first place, quite why Say intentions couldn't approach AS privately with the concerns instead of going public with a poorly written reason including pure speculation on a "new" weather system for MSFS2024 (nicely ignored above....).

Perhaps.  I do not see it that way.  The dev is super involved with his client base on Discord (although I hate discord), and regularly improving his product, dropped the cost and implemented a credit to customers midstream with that cost reduction.  I was disappointed with the AS decision, and low and behold that may be better than before.  Did not take anything as a bash against AS, just a relatively new dev that may be is not used to regularly connecting to other ones.

A LOT more pluses than negatives IMHO.

Same, I noticed months ago that their vision wasn't exactly clear and seemed more "gamey", after all the core of an ATC add on would be... ATC right? And is ATC defined as controlling the players aircraft only? I think we all know the answer to that. I mean even default MSFS ATC knows that 🤣The "other" ATC add-ons seem to have a pretty good grasp on the end goal, and will be very interesting to see how they evolve.

That’s an interesting point to raise, and I suggest you watch one of the official weekly livestreams as it really outlines what the goals for development are.

The living world stuff includes AI traffic being injected and controlled, dispatchers and services being AI enabled and available within the sim.

So yes, there’s a ton of extras for an ATC program and yet it also does stuff nobody else does:

- it supports NOTAMs and actually closes runways, approaches, and taxiways based on real world notices. It will soon support closed and restricted airspaces as well.

- it gives PIREP reports from real world pilots, so you’ll get controllers providing you advisories

- supports helicopter ops, which admittedly is basic, but is being developed further

- supports both FAA and ICAO phraseology and switches accordingly

- supports diversions, emergency procedures, etc

- will soon support pop-up IFR clearances

- has specific VFR procedures around the world - not perfect but a growing list of supported countries

- speaking of VFR, SI supports local reporting points, procedures, etc - all community sourced

- and of course injected traffic coming soon.

My point is yeah it seems like there’s so much stuff that feels outside of ATC being added. I don’t use the crew stuff or tour guide. But the fact that they added all of above in a matter of months is really exciting progress.

Great points and thanks for sharing, those are details I wouldn't have otherwise known (too lazy I guess to watch or just not enough time). I have nothing against any of the add on devs attempting to recreate ATC, but certainly cannot afford all of them either...maybe some day I will try them again, who knows.

Well, "gamification" is interesting. We have a very big team right now, so yeah - it´s very possible that we deliver some features (like progressive taxi / taxi path) that have nothing to do with the core development (traffic and terrain).

As an example I got this question via DM today: "Why concentrating on taxi arrows/progressive taxi while you still dont have traffic implemented".

When you want to implement traffic, you have to inject things into the sim. Once that was figured out, and thanks to our TaxiTuner-Technology, it was pretty clear that the visualization of the taxi path can be done by injecting an arrow into the sim. It was not a very complicated thing to do (and the taxi-data was already there), and is now one of the more popular features. We had everything there, we just had to combine it.

Same goes for cabin crews. With AI-tech it´s not too complicated to create those and it can be done without having a developer involved. I had a lot of fun doing it over the last weeks.

All is garbage if atc doesn’t control traffic

No, it isn't garbage. It is actually quite amazing how much development SI has seen in a relatively short period.  It has been made very clear AI traffic is in the works.

Wow... Just tried their new AI copilot on their test server... I don't think I've experienced anything as advanced as that in my 20+ years of flight sim.. incredible.

That´s live now. Including readback enforcement.

There is also CDPLC working in a test phase.  Works for FENIX, some saying the A300 as well.  Doing clearances and altitude changes only at this point I believe.

Here´s a demonstration:

Just had the first try with SI tonight. I flew GA planes like C172 and overall I was very impressed. But I'm struggling to figure out how to fly IFR with SI. Few questions:

1. Do I must subscript to Navigraph? I'm using SimBrief without subscription. Is SimBrief the only way to file IFR with SI? I seldom use it since I use ForeFlight for my real flights.

2. Not sure whether it is b/c I don't have Navigraph subscription, SI gave me non-existing approaches at destination airport. For instance I filed KPJC to 02G, SI asked me to fly approach RNAV 7 at 02G, while in reality 02G only has one RNAV 23.

3. Does it support requests like flying a specific approach while in the air? When on VFR following from KYNG to KPJC, I requested to practice RNAV 35 at KPJC, SI only told me to follow the chart, did nothing else.

No RWY 23 at 02G.

According to AirNav: Columbiana County (02G) has runways 07/25 with RNAV (GPS) RWY 25 as the only instrument approach procedure.

Here is the Navigraph Charts approach plate:

The integration of SayIntentions.AI with Navigraph is explained here:

https://sayintentionsai.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/154000188910-how-does-sayintentions-integration-with-navigraph-work-

You must use SimBrief and you must have your SimBrief ID entered in the SimBrief ID field in the the SIAI app.

SIAI is still saying that IFR is under development. That said, it has come a long way.

My son is a RW pilot and observed while I flew several IFR flights. Except for a couple of minor things it was very close to 100% accurate.

As for requesting a different runwway, just this morning when flying into CYYT I was given I was given an IFR approach into into RWY 29 but asked instead for the RNAV into RWY 16 and it worked perfectly.

Yes. My typo. I was talking about RNAV RWY 25. Hum, it's possible I made a mistake with SI by asking for RNAV 23 instead RNAV 25.

Thanks for the link! I already put in my SimBrief pilot ID and for that part it seems working just fine with SIAI. I at the end of IFR training in real life and MSFS is an amazing tool for IFR practice. One major component missing in MSFS is ATC. I only had one hour with SIAI and it certainly looks very promising. I'll keep trying.
