September 1, 20241 yr Hello all, I am wondering if anyone has encountered losless scaling reducing FPS? I have RTSS frame rate limited to 15, VSCYNC off and uncapped FPS everywhere else, and Loselss settings of X2, 1/2 Vsync and DXGI. In P3D, this gives me 30FPS nicely locked to my monitor. In MSFS, my FPS drop to around 8-10 or so whenever I engage losless scaling. Is there some trick to it? As the title says, I have it working with idential settings in P3D with no problems. Thanks for any advice you can offer! Cheers, Rudy PS specs: i7 6700K @ 4.5, HT off, 1080, 16GB RAM Edited September 1, 20241 yr by VHOJT
September 1, 20241 yr Use MSFS nvidiaprofile to limit fps to 30, 20 or 15. LLS nvidiaprofile set Vsync ON (not 1/2) VSync in MSFS=OFF When you activate the window, you should see 15/30 or 20/40 or 30/60 when scaling is set to x2. I believe the recommended limit is half of what your monitor refresh rate is capable of. For example, 100kHz refresh -> RTSS set to 50. September 1, 20241 yr I have VSync enabled and frames limited to 50% of the monitor refresh rate (which is 60 Hz on my desktop PC) on my sim's graphics settings. Usually, this gives me a nice and fluid experience in the sim. With Lossless Scaling enabled, I can get consistent 60 FPS in almost every flight scenario, almost doubling my default sim FPS. Don't see any reason why Lossless Scaling could be limiting or lowering the FPS. September 2, 20241 yr Notice that his gpu is a 1080. That is why is locking fps at 15 instead of say 30. You can't feed into LSFG a framerate larger than what the sim can do while it's not using using frame generation. Everywhere in the sim, even in the worst conditions. If it can't do 20 everywhere without FG, then you can't lock at 20 and get a smooth flight without stutters when you turn on LSFG "scaling". 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. I believe the recommended limit is half of what your monitor refresh rate is capable of. For example, 100kHz refresh -> RTSS set to 50. So I sit at YMML ORBX with the PMDG 737, at 4K I can maintain about 28-30 FPS. Not quite a solid 30 FPS that I usually like to Vsync with (monitor at 30Hz). So I thought - I'll try capping FPS at 20, turn my monitor back to 60Hz and try X3 Vsync in LS. Then I realised, in some situations (i.e. looking the wrong way with a bit of traffic, it may dip to 18 FPS or so from time to time before climbing back up). So I went 15 FPSl, X2 and 1/2 Vsync. This should give a nice smooth result as it does in P3D, but instead frames as indicated by MSFS plummet to 8 or so. Same happens when I do 20 and full Vsync. Had a look at P3D again - the reason I went from 20 to 15 is that I can hold 20 happily, but when losless scaling is turned on I can't. So I went down to 15 and all good. I can hold that with losless scaling. If anyone can make head or tail of this, I'll post my settings here and FPS display from MSFS here. As I said, I think I know how to work it - I have it working for P3D fine. Just seem to tank FPS with MSFS which doesn't seem to be everyone else's experience, so maybe I'm missing something. September 6, 20241 yr Interestingly, I had this phenomenon just now when playing around with Lossless. All of the sudden, after clicking on "scale now", the FPS plummetet down to 8-10 instead of amplyfing it. While 5 seconds before it was ok. No idea, turned off the sim and will try again later. Unless you found a solution or the culprit of this behaviour? Greetings, Chris AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, 2x32GB DDR5 6000MT/s RAM, MSI RTX 4090 Ventus 3X, Windows 11 Home, MSFS2024
September 6, 20241 yr Since the latest update I have the issue that at approach the main screen freezes and the side monitor runs normally … Unscaling , shutting down LLS and restarting the app solves it. 5950x3d 5.4-5.7 GHz - Asus ROG 870 Crosshair Apex - GSkill Neo 2x 24 Gb 6000 mhz / cas 26 - MSI RTX 5090 Gaming Trio OC - 1x SSD M2 6000 2TB - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 1Tb - Corsair 5400 case - Corsair 360 liquid cooling set - 3x 75’ TCL tv. 13600 6 cores @ 5.1 GHz / 8 cores @ 4.0 GHz (hypterthreading on) - Asus ROG Strix Gaming D - GSkill Trident 4x Gb 3200 MHz cas 15 - Asus TUF RTX 4080 16 Gb - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 2TB - 2x Sata 600 SSD 500 Mb - Corsair D4000 Airflow case - NXT Krajen Z63 AIO liquide cooling - FOV : 200 degrees My flightsim vids : https://www.youtube.com/user/fswidesim/videos?shelf_id=0&sort=dd&view=0
