Anyone try FT's KDEN?

Featured Replies

It's my home terminal and bought FB's and I find performance is really marginal, especially since it's surrounded by a lot of nothing until you go west 20 miles to greater Denver.

If you've tried FeelThere's let me know how performance and the whole project is if you will.  It only has two rankings on the Market store and those are 5 star FWIW.

Thanks!

Noel

  • My point is that on a system that's considerably less powerful than yours, I don't see the performance drop you describe, so it seems likely your issue is something other than FlightBeam's scenery.  I

  • Denver is one of my main airports I frequent.  X-Codrs from ORBX is the best right now.  Flightbeam is wayyyy outdated, it's missing half of the gates. Denver has expanded greatly since this old FB P3

  • I couldn’t imagine going from a FlightBeam airport to a feelthere one, seems like a downgrade generally. There is another dev (can’t remember the name) that recently released a rendition of KDEN.

X-Codr is the other dev. Available on Orbx. A more modern layout and generally good, although I still prefer FB's because the glass textures look too light and bright to me. Also, the pavement markings look too pronounced on the X-Codr one. However, an update was released today, which I haven't had the chance to try.

I'm still using the X-Codr one due to the updated layout until FB updates theirs.

I run the FlightBeam version, and don't see the performance issues you're describing, and that's on a 4-generations-old 10900K.

Performance may be better because it definitely looks simpler.

That being said, I'd never buy scenery by FeelThere after trying a few of their add-ons. Their quality is really poor. Not bottom-of-the-barrel poor, but close.

Some of FB's runways at KDEN go up and down a lot. Is this something they are going to ever fix or is something else at issue here?

I don't see them issuing much in terms of updates. Scenery for flight simulators seems to be a side business for them, with the main one being their ATC sim.

Good for you, but that does not answer the question, at all.  I fly all over the world from large terminals and this one consistently causes stuttering especially during pushbacks, so my tact is to avoid starting FSLTL until I'm about to taxi.

What ATC sim would that be? I didn't know FB made one.

Could you comment on performance with the X-Codr version vis a vis FB's?

Might be worthy to try with reduced settings. Those FSLTL 2 Lod models running 4k textures can be tough on the system.

People have complained about FB being hard on frame rates. I have been lucky as this has not been my case.

Lots of love for X-Codr  version. There is a thread here somewhere if you can find it. Not sure about the frame rate,

but its hard to do worse then FB from the comments I have read.

I would not get the Feelthere version when there are other better solutions.

Noel, I think the issue is related to FSLTL rather than FB's KDEN tbh. I get all sorts of weirdness when prepping the flight at KDEN and all of the sudden FSLTL starts spamming the Simconnect with a ton of departing flights and the performance tanks a bit, yes but I also lose parts of audio like click sounds, or ATC is freaking out (default, which I no longer use in favor of BATC) and all gets sorted out once I reset the FSLTL traffic. Other than it FB's Denver is amazingly fluid in performance.

If you end up getting the X-Codr version, please let me know how you like it.
