FSHud v2 'silent' alpha is out

Featured Replies

The FSHud dev released a public 'silent' alpha. Check the FSHud Discord. A more official (and less silent) beta is due out in a week or so but everyone who wants to experience the first FSHud v2 improvements (like voice control and a map) can give it a try now already. (Obviously you have to own FSHud v1.)

  • It's superb.  Just done an approach into LEPA from EDDL. SIDS, STARS, vectoring, separation, perfectly executed by FSHud, three of us, separated with speed, the app running on my tablet, voice accents

tested and is the best update ever made!!!!!

Now the voices are awsome, more than one hundred of realistic voices  and the taxi map make the taxi phase  incredible.

Respect perfomance, the FPS gain is awsome too

Have to test the voice recognition but looking at other users commentaries this works flawless too.

I tried to post last night about this (about finding out about the update). Somehow, my post got lost.

Regarding FPS gain, is performance at the same level as FSLTL with the same amount of traffic, but connected directly to the sim (as when using default ATC or PF3)?

Yes!

I just tested with the Fenix at EDDF. I get exactly the same FPS with FSHud 2.0, 50 Parking, 20 Active, as with FSLTL only, set to 70 aircraft.

With FSHud 1.3 I lose about 20-30% compared to FSLTL only.

So that's a massive performance improvement in FSHud 2.0 over FSHud 1.3 of 20-30%. In particular parking aircraft seem to cause no significant impact anymore at all, I barely see a difference in FPS with 50 parking or 100 parking.

other awsome improvement is that you can use a mobile device or tablet  to run FSHUD

Yes, new version is looking very interesting. I'm just beginning to look into it.

Wow, thank you very much! I installed it last night, and went directly to bed. I'll give a try today after work.

Finished my first flight with v2, Gatwick to Edinburgh. Voice recognition was good, as was ATC instructions including descent and vectors to ILS approach. Got quite a lot of AI activity on the frequency with default settings. Voice quality is good.

Performance wasn't too bad using AutoFPS (I do have a decent CPU though).

Okay, so, I gave it a try myself and I have to say... WOW! I like it! And I don't even use my voice (which is one of the big updates of v2)!

The new voices are excellent and there are enough to not make you think 'Did I hear him before...?'. Yes, BATC has more voices and accents (at this moment FSHud v2 has great German accents btw) but they cost money and the free basic voices are fun but often horrible (due to the phonetic pronunciation). You have around 30 or 40 (didn't really count them) voices you can select for the co-pilot voice (which in my case is 'my' virtual voice).

The map of FSHud is also awesome! And even better than the BATC one, specially because in FSHud the map can be shown the entire flight, so not just during taxi!

Another nice new feature is that you can see all waypoints of the entire flight at the top of the screen (using a scrollbar) and it includes taxiways, runways, airways (not ALL waypoints are shown) up to the destination's STAR, runway, runway exit (!), taxiways and parking spot! And your entire route is constantly shown on the map so when you land you immediately know which exit to use and where to taxi (you should still call ATC for taxi instructions etc. of course). HUGE improvement over the basic info FSHud v1 showed (and also way better than the BATC map).

Next great feature: you can easily open the FSHud UI (so the entire interface including the map) in a browser or on your iPad or whatever! Really great if you have multiple screens or a tablet lying around.

Of course v2 also still has the other nice v1 features:
- you can hide communications with the AI from the log (so it only shows what you are saying) with one click
- you can set the volume of AI traffic (in case you want your own comms to be louder)
- you can change the 'radio distortion effect' for your own voice, ATC voices and AI voices seperately from zero to completely distorted (not that you'd want to do that)
- you can change the speed of what's being said (which is very useful!)
- the amount of traffic can be set using a 'limiter', so you can go for 50 parked and 20 active or whatever you want. BTW FSHud is best used with AIG or FSLTL: I use AIG (for models and flightplans) and FSLTL at the same time (for extra flightplans!): FSHud uses those apps to inject its own traffic (FSLTL has a special FSHud mode).

All in all... I am pretty happy with FSHud v2! And for now it replaces BATC (again). I am not saying FSHud v2 is perfect (mind you... it's a silent alpha still!), far from it (BATC does have a few options I'd also like to see in FSHud), but for my use it's the best ATC addon at this moment.

What does "silent mean", in terms of alpha?

I also gave it a try in MSFS, without voice (I have no microphone available). I use AIG as base for FSHud. I use LVFR static aircraft+20 parked+20 active aircraft.

With the A300 at LVFR KMIA, I used to get stutters. Now it's very smooth 😁

Also, the airport map in the browser panel is brilliant, and somehow I no longer get any surprise turns while taxing to the runway. The only issues I've found so far:

1) I can't set a key for hiding the old control panel; there's no response from the UI when I try to do so.

2) I can't use a hotkey for showing/hiding the new one. That wouldn't be a problem, if not for the fact that...

3) I can't load the FSHud panel in my Android tablet, despite using my sim rig IP and the correct port. Strange, because the FSL and Fenix EFBs work there correctly.

No big announcements from FSHud, I guess.

He was going to do a closed beta for a little bit. He decided instead to post the beta on his Discord. Once he is ready for more people to test it, he will do an announcement for folks to test.

For me, Ctrl-Tab is working.

Don't think there's a hotkey for show/hide the new one. Yet. Lot's of people in Discord have requested it though.

Did you let FSHud create the firewall rule?
