in addition to HiFlyers post, I followed this and fortunately Windows it hasn't automatically updated my W11-23-H2  to 24H2 since:

https://www.elevenforum.com/t/specify-target-feature-update-version-in-windows-11.3811/

It's being phased out anyway, I'm waiting on it but as yet no update for me.

very nice.

In MSFS, with the help of Air force Player. This freeware is offline now, but you can try one of the others listed here https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/619445-force-feedback-joysticks-support/

A long time ago I've coded a FF plugin for Fly2 🤓

Roland

MSFS my local airport release: LFOR Chartres-Metropole

MSFS Plugins RAAS (registered FSUIPC7 required)

MSFS FX for Objects & Landmark in France (Steam and smoke) and Aerial coverage for French nuclear sites

It's only a matter of time to when MSFS joins the list above.  My guess is 6-7 years from now, so "Eat, drink and be merry...."

This day was known to be coming months ago. And back then I sold my G2 on eBay and pre ordered  a Pimax Crystal Light.

PCL: After my first flight I was like the guy at the traveling salvation healing show who ran out of the tent with hands lifted skyward in rapturous joy. OK, I'm exaggerating but the PCL does throw a much cleaner image than the Hewlett Packard headset, it's like the fog has lifted and I can see clearly now.

5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB  PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.

Luckily I am still rocking windows 10.

That being said, the only real upgrade paths are significantly more expensive. If someone brought out a good upgrade that was at $600 a headset it would be an easy purchase for me.

if you mean Option 1 like this on elevenforum, then yes, it is still working for me too and my HP G2. I plan to keep it that way for another year before I may upgrade to a new 8K VR headset:

I have no issue with them cancelling that stick. Yes, it was great but sales were low because the flight sim scene wasn't anywhere near the heights of popularity it's reached today.

That stick still works from an OS perspective. And that's the problem here. The WMR headsets are working fine and are being arbitrarily bricked for no reason. I could see end of support for WMR and the final version is what you get forever, but removing it entirely? That's asinine.

U.S Patents are valid for 20 years.

In 2002,  Microsoft and Sony were sued by the Immersion Corporation for patent infringement.  Immersion held 140 patents specifically mentioning FFB.  Microsoft decided to settle out of court and agreed to purchase a 10 percent share in Immersion,   while Sony instead decided to fight  and subsequently lost.   The judgment cost Sony $90.7 million US dollars,  and they were ordered to suspend sales of devices containing Immersion's technology.   Sony lost their appeal in 2006.

For 20 years FFB was paywalled behind licensing fees that nobody wanted to pay for what was effectively a niche market product.   It chilled the market overnight,   because profit margins on FFB devices were already marginal without the fees.   And fear of potential litigation more or less stifled independent development for the greater part of 2 decades.

I have admit that looking over at my now useless Reverb G2 is not making me happy,  windows updated itself before I even heard about it.   Even more annoying,  I just bought a new G2 cable which cost me 100 bucks.  This time it is definitely Microsoft's fault.

it is not usless. I am running my HP G2 as usual (using Windows11-H23-2) with MSFS2020 and plan to continue with MSFS 2024 as well. you can still download a free Windows11-H23-2 ISO image from Microsoft and re-install that with full support of WMR which the HP-G2 requires. or go back to Windows10 if you have that too. it fully supports WMR, and without fear of inadvertently updating and loose WMR support.

I followed this advice and fortunately Windows has NOT automatically updated my Windows 11 version 23H2  to 24H2 since:

Saw this coming months ago that's why I got the CL.  You really don't know when this update will hit your machine and it's hard to stop this on Windows 11.😔

The sad truth here is this being Microsoft this very thing could happen to MSFS.  They don't seem to care how successful their product is doing if the wrong manager get's promoted over there with no vision any product can be toast.  That's why I'm a supporter of XPlane and DCS.  Always ready to make the switch if this happens to MSFS like it did with FSX.  At least we had the CD's with FSX, we're dead in the water like the Reverb G2 should Microsoft pull the plug on MSFS.

Hey Dillon !  Like Gliders?  Support Condorsoaring v3 too 😉

No other sim does gliders like Condor, and you'll have VR support 😉

Flying gliders since 1980

Flightsimming since 1992

actually it is very simple. I am still on Windows11 23H2 and STILL using my trusty HP G2 WMR headset in VR, in x-plane and in MSFS. and plan on using it for at least another year. here you go:
