VNAV will command pitch to accelerate automatically after passing FMC accel alt. Isn't that true also in the NG? Where arming VNAV or not prior to takeoff differs between airlines how they do it based on their SOPs.

Yes, same for the NG. Reasons not to engage VNAV on the ground (and why some operaters don't use it in their SOP's) are: Maintain pilot's situational awareness Engine failure Windshear Noise abatement ATC instructions differ to vertical profile Terrain clearance (maintain climb at V2) One or both F/D's not engaged FS2024 • PMDG 738, 77F • FSL A321 • A2A Comanche, Aerostar • BS Baron, Bonanza, Caravan Pro • JF Tomahawk • TAOG H500C BeyondATC • GSX Pro • ChasePlane & Flow Pro • TDS GTNXi • FSUIPC • AutoFPS • RealTurb 9800X3D B650E • ROG OC RTX 5090 • 64GB DDR5-6000 • VKB Gladiator, STECS, T-Rudder • Tobii 5 • ISP 1 Gbps
October 23, 20241 yr I always arm VNAV when on the ground in my PMDG 737-600. All of those reasons not to engage VNAV described above are irrelevant to me 😉 Edited October 23, 20241 yr by Christopher Low Christopher Low AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU / 64GB DDR5-6000 RAM / 12GB Nvidia RTX 4070 Super GPU / Gigabyte X870E Aorus Elite Wifi 7 / 1+2TB Samsung Evo Plus M2 Nvme UK2000 Beta Tester

October 23, 20241 yr I like to automate stuff as much as possible so that I get more time to enjoy the view 🙂 Of course, that does not include the landing. That is always manual. For the sake of completeness I would just like to highlight that the following cases are possible with VNAV too. - Engine failure: engine failure with an EFP that contains turns - you might have to open the MCP speed window with SPD INTV to avoid acceleration before your turns are completed (turn radius and obstacle clearance) - Windshear: older software prohibited use of VNAV for takeoff if there was a possibility of windshear. This is no longer the case. There will be no VNAV interference when performing the windshear escape maneuver. - Noise abatement: correct programming of the Takeoff page 2/2 (accel height and thrust reduction height) should accommodate any required noise abatement procedure. I am wondering when the final release of this aircraft will happen. I see a trend lately where pre-release software is sold, and then the wait for the final version, seems to take forever. I have decided to not spend any more money on pre release software, and will wait until it is ready for sale.

There is a update on work seeing at there discord, but still with this update coming it is on pre-release state this is specifically mentioned in the update log. It is somehow like beta testing and the best way to work out all the bugs for a Team, but if it is already provided as well (first release) as with iFLY, that is not a problem for me. It's just the way it is these days, the users are the beta testers.. Just think back the last four years for MSFS - same thing, we where the beta testers 🙃 cheers 😉 Edited October 23, 20241 yr by pmplayer 08.2024 new PC is online : ASUS ROG STRIX X670E-F GAMING WIFI Mainboard, AMD Ryzen™ 9 7950X3D Prozessor, G.Skill DIMM 64 GB DDR5-6000 (2x 32 GB) Dual-Kit, MSI GeForce RTX 4090 VENTUS 3X E 24G OC Grafikkarte, 2x WD Black SN850X NVMe SSD 4 TB - Drive C+D, WD Gold Enterprise Class 12 TB for storage HDD, Thermaltake Toughpower GF3 1000W PC - Power supply, Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 EVO CPU Aircooler with 7 Heatpipes, Design Meshify 2 White TG Clear Tint Tower-Case, 3x 4K monitors 2x32 Samsung 1x27 LG 3840x2160, Windows11 Prof. 23H2 - now Windows11 Prof. 25H2 Flightsimulator Hardware: Honeycomb Throttle Bravo, Logitech Extreme 3D Pro, Logitech Flight Joke System, XBox Controller, some Thrustmaster stuff, Winwing CDU Panels.

If it's still in such a state that you have to admit that it's "pre-release" then don't f____ release it 🤪 let alone charge people for the privilege of testing it for you! 14900ks, RTX4090, 64Gb@6000-30-36-36-T2, Samsung 990Pro 2Tb , Dell G3223Q 32" 4k Gsync + 27" secondary monitor. I'm more than happy to pay before the actual release. Both since I think it's great fun with a new MAX but also based on how these developers seem very serious getting thing right. Where they have already in this prerelease state given us an amazing aircraft. As for "taking forever", I'm certain PMDG will remain the champion 🤣

October 23, 20241 yr I do all my flying in VR and I still haven't gotten used to the default view in cockpit when being used to the PMDG NG. It feels like I'm maybe a bit too far back in the seat and also a bit low and as my head would be tilted down a bit. Anyone else flying this beautiful aircraft in VR and what is your experience in this regard? I think there's a way to adjust this by editing cfg files but haven't gotten to that point yet. As I recall it from the past when I've been playing around with it in other aircraft, it's quite time consuming and cumbersome.
October 23, 20241 yr The ifly is a pretty solid piece of kit. It needs a bit of work but when you look at some recent releases *cough Aerosoft* I’d say it’s probably 98% there. These guys definitely know what they’re doing.
