iFly 737 Max is out now (Pre release only)

do all my flying in VR and I still haven't gotten used to the default view in cockpit when being used to the PMDG NG. It feels like I'm maybe a bit too far back in the seat and also a bit low and as my head would be tilted down a bit.

Funny, I don't use VR, but I find the default position to be actually the best of all aircraft. It's zoomed in as much as possible (to see the PFD and ND well), but without cutting off edges of the screens or of being too low to see where you're taxiing to.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

I would say basically nothing flat-out "doesn't work".  There are things that can be improved, but not really any more so than a lot of airplanes that have been out for years and are considered decent

  • **We are now releasing version 1.0.0.** This announcement replaces the previous one from a few days ago. The changelog is also replaced. First, we would like to thank everyone who has contributed

  • Another "take 80% of the item, pay 100% and then we'll see" product. Even if i wanted this (it's just another boring 737, so skip anyway) i wouldn't buy it. This is getting out of hand, now even

Thanks for sharing and it could very well be how I'm simply not used to this aircraft after having spent so many hours in the PMDG NG. Also, the "issue" I describe will be much more evident in VR vs 2D.

One other thing I've noticed with the MAX is how the cockpit seems bigger vs the PMDG NG. This I think is a good thing. Because I recall how a pilot friend of mine who flies both the NG and MAX IRL said when he tried my setup with the NG how the cockpit felt a bit cramped.

Next time I meet him, I'll ask for his opinion in the MAX regarding the default view point 👍

By the way,  we have 737 pilots here in this threat, we may ask them. From my perspective each pilot can adjust seat to their liking unless of course there is some company rule or recommendation like those "three balls"

It's interesting I have also felt the cockpit of the iFly MAX to be more roomy over the PMDG NG.  Not sure if it's just the default camera angles iFly selected or if maybe the window shape between them has something to do with it?

I just finished up flying the iFly MAX from SEA to ANC and it was a text book perfect flight.  Really nice plane to fly.  Like the NG's it does not like to slow down on descent.  However I felt the iFly MAX was slightly more controllable over PMDG's NG.  PMDG's version simply won't slow down unless you level out.

Only anomaly I noticed is on climb out when turning my VS would shut off.  Once I found out simply turning it back on worked everytime.  I don't know maybe it's a feature?  No issue on descent even with some sharp turns.

In cruise the MAX 8 tends to burn about 300 lbs of fuel less per engine at cruise over the 738 NG.  The MAX also tends to be happy cruising slightly faster at Mach .79 and still save lots of fuel.

I am not really a fan of the MAX on the publicity side.  I also drink the Cool Aid that it is a old design gone too far.  However flying it is sure a nice experience.

I have been on 2 real MAX flights in real life.  Both Alaska MAX 9's.  At first I was terrified but as a passenger seating and ambience was much nicer.  It's quieter over the NG and it feels like it's heavier so it takes turbulence much better.

I think the iFly MAX recreates the experience rather well.

I just purchased the 737 Max and I cannot install it, I get an error saying there was an invalid product configuration

Anyone know how to fix this ?

Did you buy it for the right platform? In case you bought it from web site https://www.iflysimsoft.com/ProductsDetail.aspx?PID=1 It's for MSFS 2004

I purchased it from the iFly Manager app which then went through Flight 1

It is not even showing in my Flight One account even though they took my money ... Nice !

I opened a support ticket

From the User Guide and Tutorial...

IMPORTANT: Ensure the Tool is not running in the Windows System Tray before loading the MAX8.

You have to start it before you start MSFS.

The more important thing is, if it was started before that and is still on from a previous session, it must be closed again first. Then start the iFLY App and then start MSFS.

I set it in the exe.xml file with the IFLY Manager so all goes Auto, not needed to do manual things..

Works for me..

cheers 😉

Ideally, it starts automatically when you load the plane in MSFS.  There is a setting in the iFly manager app to force this.

Andrew Crowley

You can also load it when MSFS is startet, just do it before loading into the flight.

I deselect the iFly 737, then load a different aircraft, start the plugin and then re-select the iFly 737.

couple of n00b questions from me:

1. Is the integration with Simbrief limited to be able to see all charts associated with the airport? I can only see Airport Terminal chart?
2. What is going on with the bird rolling down the taxiway with the throttle at idle? Is that a normal MAX behavior? Not used to it with the 738.
3. Fuel is not being loaded with the flight plan from Simbrief?
4. There's no way to see the OFP from the EFB?
