Sounds like the Comanche will just be a drag and drop from 2020 to 2024, what Raul is talking is is opening a 2020 project and recompiling it as a 2024 project.

Not just recompiling but basically redesigning it; he seems to say you cannot even just recompile it but that each system needs to be broken out and worked on; so the process is not clear to me.

It seems like various devs are talking past each other. Some are talking compatibility only, others like FSReborn seem to be talking about making their addons native into 2024.

Some clarity from Asobo would be helpful.

I think is pretty clear:

- if you take an add-one complied with MSFS2020, that will work in 2024 out of the box.

- if you try to do "native" to add MSFS 2024 features, then you will need a do a lot of things to, not just recompile. Of course native 2024 add-one won't work in 2020 (expected)

 

So what Rahul is saying is, if we see a developer charge us 10$ for a fake "native" upgrade, this can't be because it needs a lot of work, nevertheless we can take our add-one in 2020 and drop it in 2024, will work but nothing of 2024 features will be enabled (expected)

I understand that myself, but the lack of clarity and different statements from various devs is causing a lot of confusion among those who aren't following it quite closely.

Say Dev A from which I own Aircraft B announces a "port" into MSFS2024 with the aircraft flight dynamics enriched by the new capabilities available in MSFS 2024, like additional surfaces to better simulate the aerodynamics of the real aircraft... I'll go up to €15 for that... Same if they say they're bringing it to MSFS 2024 but had to adapt their systems to the new model in order to cope with the new features available...

IF a Dev says that not only a port is taking place but they also added features that were not present in the previous version, like additional failure modes (not my beach, but ...) alternate FMC / FMGC models available in the real aircraft, additional systems modelling, etc... then I may consider paying more than €15.

Regarding Inibuilds I honestly didn't like their products for XP11 that much, and never even updated them into XP12, so I don't think I will care much about offer from them for MSFS 2024. PMDG, Fenix, A2A, Flying Iron, Active Sky, BATC, FSHUD they're another story... but still my €15 limit applies, just as described above...

MSFS 2024 will almost 100% probably become my **only** general purpose civil aviation flight simulator. I will use mostly Condor 3 and DCS World too for specific types of aviation, and I simply am not going to spend again the money I - stupidly - spent in the last two years in addons for all the platforms I was using...

Most of the features I ever dreamed about finding in a flight simulator are there. even the Career Mode, although I don't think I'll use it that much with the few time I'll have to play MSFS. I fully support the idea of the in-game Store, and would even accept not being possible to get any content outside of it should their business model require such an adaptation...   MSFS, and in particular MSFS 2024 will be for me as a game pretty much what War Thunder was some 4 years ago when I played it and almost got addicted 🙂

Asobo has stated in a livestream that most MSFS2020 addons should directly work in 2024 but there could be performance issues. I believe this is the category of compatibility that A2A will be in initially. See Raul and other devs statements about the complexity of modeling directly in MSFS2024.

Well that’s not what inibuilds is doing. And none of their upgrade fees (so far) are over 15 euros.

They’re not charging for simple port overs. Those are free.

Anything they’re charging an upgrade fee for is taking advantage of new features and such added in 2024.

Good that they are not bound to release dates as I'd rather them get it right than rush out a release.

You're absolutely right, and I didn't read their post at the Inibuilds support forums where they make the premium upgrade of at least the A300 for less than €10, which is perfectly acceptable for me.

I do not own the A300 though.

The A350 I will probably buy it day 1 because I don't think either FBW or Fenix will have one available.

From PMDG I am really looking forward for a classic 747, preferably the -300 which TAP, the Airline of Portugal (also the best ever airline in the whole World) operated between the mid 70s and the early eighties of last Century ... 

And I just read that A2A's Comanche will probably be fully compatible with 2024 !!!

Day 1 purchase for me, the systems look very similar to the A380. Does anyone know whether the A350 does BTV?
