Hi Everybody,

A short video showing how to pre-install MSFS2024 if you preordered, this was done via Gamepass.

oops, I just posted this in the "where will it be.." thread. This worked great for me, and I got the microsoft store version, not gamepass.

I "pre-installed" MSFS2024, chose a custom folder on my F: drive, but the folder size is only 13MB or so. So I guess the 50 gigabytes will be available to download upon release?

That is my understanding..

It's a shame this is only for the marketplace version. Still 30gig shouldn't take a long time to download.

It's essentially pointless, as it's just the client shell, not the actual sim data yet. So won't save you any time come release.

I hope you put up more MSFS 2024 videos affer it's released, especially when the add-ons are gradually fixed to become compatible with it!

Curious to learn if you managed to do that without having to move the whole xBox Games folder to your F: drive?

And if indeed you found a way to install into C:\xBox Games just the core, like in 2020, and setup a folder for the main content under, say, F:, then please give me some clues on how to do that because I was not able to at least in the Alpha preview ...

I followed captain´s Mike instructions, but it allows me to select C folder only - how can I select folder F that is the folder I want?

Thanks

I did get the option to choose a drive and folder, although it seems that was a content folder similar to C:\xbox games.

If I understand correctly (and I may not) if you do this, it will automatically download the program when it is available tomorrow so you wont need to manually download. If that is correct, it will save time if you are at work and not able to download.

Hi abrams,

I will be putting them up just as soon as I get the flight deck setup, I just hope the PMDG doesn't need much to get going.

Unless the release version changes that, we will then be unable to instal the content folders under a different drive/partition, like in MSFS 2020...

I personally don't like that - being forced to hook the whole XboxGames folder and a few more replicas of system folders to the partition I am willing to make the content install reside 🥴

Not if one isn't home during release time, the download should be done by the time one gets home from work. Unless there are server issues. I find it hard to believe MS would make the pre download available if it was pointless.
