November 20, 20241 yr My system specs are; RTX 3050 Intel i7-12650 16GB RAM Has anyone tested MSFS 2024 on a similar setup? How does it perform at 1080p with High or Medium settings? I’m particularly curious whether it is more optimized compared to MSFS 2020? Any input would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance. November 20, 20241 yr Apparently if you can run 2020 then you can run 2024 without too much to worry about. The jury is still out on that so I'd give it some time. My 3090 is barely sufficient to run it at 3440x1440/Ultra. In PG areas I get 35-40fps with TAA and around 45 fps with DLSS Quality (which, guess what, still has the same blurriness and ghosting issues on glass displays). 7800X3D | 2x32 GB DDR5-6000 CL32 | RTX 5080 | Alienware OLED 34" | 1 Gbps fiber
November 20, 20241 yr Agreed with poster above. My i5-8400 and RTX 2080 could run 2020 at reasonably high settings with about 45 fps (Cessna 172), while the new sim struggles maintaining the same graphics settings. I only get around 20 fps with high stutters. Medium settings seem to work fine though, about 40 fps on my system. Right now this feels like a poor deal, week performance and even weaker visuals than 2020. Further optimisations will probably take place in the future, but any improvement is probably going to be counteracted by more advanced addons utilising all available resources. Time to upgrade, I guess...

November 20, 20241 yr How about broadband speed? I get around 100-130 mb/s. Will this hack it? Well apparently they are quoting "10 Mbps Bandwidth for minimum requirement" so I guess that speed should be able to handle however one thing to note is it not just about your speed - The servers needs to be running efficiently too. This is something not looking great right now with multiple people with fibre internet struggling to run the sim, I'd say give it couple of days for servers to stabilise before running otherwise the experience is not so great. November 20, 20241 yr It´s funny how it has been advertised that 2024 would be so much better on performance. Well, using the same settings, it´s just almost impossible for me to go over 32fps (and for some reason, the frame gen mod does not work for me)and I can´t even see FSR 3 frame gen anywhere. Not only performance is kinda worst, but I find it is way more stuttery than 2020, although this might have to do with the actual status of the servers, as everything is being loaded from the cloud (not even the cockpit and exterior lights would work on the 321). Conclusion: Staying in 2020 for the time being.
November 20, 20241 yr FYI, you cant compare medium to medium or high to high across both sims. There is more performance to use GPU side for those that can utilise it in 2024, with likes of ray tracing etc, hence why even a 4090 will struggle now performance improvements were mostly CPU side Edited November 20, 20241 yr by Brocky120
November 20, 20241 yr I've a similar system to the OP's. Once in the air things feel smooth and no complaints on that score , but , actually loading a location to start a flight is a 50/50 affair because of server issues. Technically I have a 1mb line but I doubt if it works at more than 100mbps from my desktop and right now that's not enough. The default aircraft fail to impress ( Deluxe Premium Edition ) other that those from FFX. It may be that my unfamiliarity that leads to disappointment but MS2024 looks like the cartoon edition for gamers. Things can only get better.
November 20, 20241 yr see my signature, I am pretty happy with what I get. Started to tweak towards high settings and all smooth so far. before tuning further, though, I need to get these dreaded controller settings in place. mouse works by now, stick too - but next is that TM airbus throttle Phil Leaven i5 10600KF, 32 GB 3200 RAM, ASUS 4070 12GB EVO, Asus ROG Z490-H, 2 WD Black NVME for each Win11 (500GB) and MSFS (1TB), Rolling Cache 16GB, Photogrammetry always OFF, Live Weather and Live Traffic always ON, Res 2560x1440 on 27"

No but in order to get the same framerate, you need to compromise much more on the graphics quality. FS 2024 looks worse than MSFS at the same framerate. As for ray tracing, it is selective for certain shadows (all reflections are still SS) and in fact it has 1-2 fps impact on my system. I expect graphics downgrades in the future, similarly to what was done with MSFS SU5. 7800X3D | 2x32 GB DDR5-6000 CL32 | RTX 5080 | Alienware OLED 34" | 1 Gbps fiber
November 22, 20241 yr Author This video clearly shows that in his scenario, MSFS2024 performs a lot better. We have to be aware of selective bias, however, could this be a good news?
