I'm still on a see-saw. One minute I'm loving it then the bubble bursts and it does something stupid.

The World is divided into two groups. Those who say "Give me a link" and those that provide the link. WWG1WGA

After the Server Debacle I hadn't expected too much progress.

But, now  I'm liking this more than expected

Thanks Asobo.

I remember checking out most of the locations from the trailer back then, and it pretty much looked the same as far as the scenery was concerned (apart from the clouds maybe). Of course the trailer was taken with all the settings maxed out and the angles very carefully chosen, but it still was the same as in the sim as far as I remember.

I don't understand what you are saying.

Are you saying the areas in the trailer were faked and if you fly to those areas in 2024 it looks like 2020?

This is what I mean:

Lol that definitely falls into the category of false advertising. No wonder Steam accepts refunds even after running it for days seemingly

If that is what he meant, but I would guess they are touched up for the Career mode, but I don't know since career mode is at least initially based on whatever area you pick.

However, down low there are a lot of areas that look high detail not far from off from the shots in the trailer, you just have to find them.

This was a response to Fiorentoni who said that MSFS2020 didn't look like in the trailer back then. I said that I remembered it differently, i.e. that it actually looked like in the trailer.

The screenshot I attached is a comparison between the MSFS 2024 trailer and MSFS 2024. As I wrote above, I assume that the main reason for the difference is that they changed the imagery for Switzerland after the trailer was made, plus maybe some server issues. Nowhere did I say that they faked it.

This could be another explanation.

I gotcha, it was just confusing to read.

There does seem to be some inconsistency to the textures, even today I noticed the GNP area didn't look as good as a couple hours ago. I don't know what's going on, but it's almost like sometimes it loads 2 different versions of the terrain on some flights.

It's very strange.

Yeah, it's growing on me as well... when it fully loads!

I liken it to a game of golf.   A Beautiful green course but your shots go wide and in the rough, in the water, +5 over par, ...." hate this game"!  Then comes the 18th hole, ..... What a shot!   I love this game!

There is a lot to like, but encounter a whole lot of weird things. Many have all been mentioned.  Then comes that wow moment.  Cool.  I suspect these waves of up and downs will continue for a while but gets better and better with time.

The hotfix seems to have stabilized the sim better. Before I had random CTDs for an unknown reason. Once again, no error log is to be found.

I am not sure why many have refunded the sim so fast, when clearly they are server issues and not the sim per say, and the sim when you have proper sufficient streaming, performs very well.

Same here, I am really loving it. It does have some bugs. The one that irritates me is falling though the overpass leading to the taxiways in Munich. I have to use the slew mode to get out of it to the other side. I had a flight from EDDM to EDDF (its the only flight I know well), and it was fantastic. Even used default ATC which has some improvements but is still subpar. I don't think it even gave me decent or landing clearance and just let me chug along lol.

I was just about to create this exact post when I saw this. I know its crazy, and obviously everyone is different, and most seem to have horrible experiences, but I have a lowly 1660Ti with an i7 10700K running at 3840X2160 on a 75" Samsung TV on medium settings in the game and the performance is acceptable. I've not had one CTD, and I was able to load the game late on launch day within about two and a half minutes.

A request has been made via Elves for Santa to bring me at least a 4080 or a new rig with one preinstalled...its the least they can do after paying for 12 years of private school, college, rent, cars, and room and board over all those years, right? 😄

I just did the adventure to find kangaroos. While I didn't find any, I landed the Cub in a farmer's field. Watching the weeds blow around behind the aircraft as I increased the throttle, just as would happen in real life, blew my mind.

This can only get better with age.

I’m really enjoying the online EFB, now that I came grips with it.

Used Simbrief and liked it but didn’t have Navigraph subscription.

Now, with Lido charts it’s so much fun.

I created flight plans on my iPad while “watching” a Rom Com Christmas movie with my wife last night, looking forward to flying them later today!
