November 24, 20241 yr I have been flying the 172, just finished a night flight and lighting was as expected…

November 24, 20241 yr That’s interesting, wonder what it could be. I know the steam gauge 172 has no power at all at the moment, I was flying the G1000. Maybe, give it a try and see?

Maybe, give it a try and see? The 172 w/ G1000 is what I am flying right now, to be clear, the screens are fine, just no exterior lighting or interior "lighting".
November 24, 20241 yr Author OK, so if I cheat and hit CTRL E I do get he lights, but if I start the engines on my own and turn light switches on, I don't is there something I am forgetting to do? And I do have generators on.
November 24, 20241 yr I flew my addon Hondajet today and when it came to late afternoon the cockpit and panel got to dark to use. I was forced to adjust the time back to earlier in the day to complete the flight. Something is clearly amiss with time of day and lighting effects. Noticed the displays are super dim even at full brightness. Also, I did not notice any visible exterior lights on the H-Jet similar to many other aircraft.... November 24, 20241 yr One thing you may want to verify, is that no physical controls are assigned to ANY of the controllers for lighting. I have the HC Alpha and I had an issue where i used the SR22 Avionics switch in the plane and it didn't turn on. I then clicked my HCA switch and there it was. Normally, I don't assign switches to my controllers but evidently, MSFS2024 decided to do it for me.. Also, just a PSA, if you have multiple controller setups, watch out since they may have a BUNCH of duplicated assignments. You may find a host of issues while flying. November 24, 20241 yr The light knobs on the 'overhead' of the Vision Jet do turn and you see the light itself change color but it has no effect at all in the cockpit. Luckily the backlight rotation knob does work so you can still see what you are doing (when it comes to buttons and knobs) when it gets darker.

Luckily the backlight rotation knob does work so you can still see what you are doing (when it comes to buttons and knobs) when it gets darker. I have discovered at least one issue today. I was in flight at 12:00 noon, USA EST. The GMT at that time is 17:00. The lighting that MSFS was presenting to me for 1700Z appeared instead to be equivalent to 17:00 local time, dusk. When I slid the handlebar weather screen time bar backwards to 1200Z the lighting was perfect and the sun was in the 12 noon position. 1200Z at that time would have been 07:00 local time. Dawn. Roosters crowing.... That may be one issue. The second issue however is very dim cockpit lighting from dusk onward into night. The Hjet by design has automatic light levels as it's namesake Hondajet has. My controls configurations for HC Alpha, Bravo, mouse, and CW rudder pedals all started from scratch (no carried forward assignments). That leaves the keyboard, which I do not use other than for sound volume and nVidia app screen captures. After flying today it appears to me that cockpit lighting is responding to GMT time, not local time. For my mostly EST time zone flying that is currently a 5 hour difference. My cockpit lighting begins to fade at noon, which is 17:00 GMT. The second issue appears to be that MSFS 2024 is not adjusting the interior/cockpit lighting as the environment grows dark. Odd, but outside environment lighting is not affected. Only cockpit/interior lighting. This is observed in two separate addon aircraft. I have not flown an MSFS 2024 default aircraft. I rarely fly default models. November 25, 20241 yr I've had the impression that 2024 cockpits looked quite dark so started up 2020 and 2024 at the same time, put each one in a window with the same aircraft (Cessna 172), same airport, same clear weather and same time of day. 2024 looks quite a bit darker. Even the text on the panels in 2020 is easier to read. Intel Core i5-12600k, Nvidia RTX 4070 Super, 128 Gigs.
