Flight Won’t Load - White Spinning Circle

Featured Replies

I’ve run into an issue this afternoon trying to do a flight in the A330.  Basically the screen shows the terrain at the airport I intend to fly out of, but the flight never loads, there’s just a white spinning circle in the bottom right corner.

I was able to load flights earlier… I wonder if this is another server load issue?  I let it go for ten minutes the first time then had to ctrl-alt-del out of the sim.  Tried four more times and just can’t get a flight to load.

EDIT: I was able to load I to the sim with the C-17 at a remote airport, maybe this is a big airport issue.

  • One possible reason is an incompatible item in the Community folder. I tried to load the BlackSquare A36 and it just sat there with a spinning circle.. just as you described.

I just tried 3 different servers without success. This is just completely unacceptable, it takes my fairly powerful system 5 minutes to load the sim, and now I've been looking at this circle for 17 mi

  • 566.14 Nvidia driver , just finished a flight around the UK, and landed in London, about 45 minutes. Never saw even a micro stutter. Everything loaded quick and nice. DLSS Quality, Ultra preset render

I had the same early afternoon, came out the dim and stuck the vpn on again, and it was fine. Flew later in the A400 without the vpn so it does sound like a server issue.

Welcome to my life for the past 2 days, same same. Must be weekend rush. Worked previously during the week but I could not  get further than the main menu over the weekend

not alone

That makes already 4 of us. not really a critical mass to make MSFT change those batteries, evidently. Hoping for tomorrow’s home office to servers being available again

By tomorrow several heads should roll when the executives look at all the refunds issued.

Not sure this is a server issue.  Sim boots for me in less than 2 minutes but I get spinning circle when load select (most) aircraft

Sunday = Evening in Europe and daytime in North America.

This is the time of the week when demand is highest. Two flight simming continents come together to give the MSFS servers a real hammering.

Mine is entirely vanilla and I get what Regis does.

i think this is all related to a complex aircraft streaming from their servers. Today for the first time I was able to load the flight with a default C172 at ORD. Seconds later I tried with the Max, 787, 747 and no go, same thing.

Im curious, what is the size of the PMDG 738 when it loads into MSFS 2020?

Yes my community folder is empty right now.  I was able to launch with the C-17 so not sure what that means.

In any event I’ve fired up 2020 to go for a Fenix flight to ease my frustration and get my Airbus fix, what an annoying day this has been.

well, this is off the wall but it's worth a try. I could not load a flight for two days - just the spinning circle. Tried with and without VPN

Based upon something I read somewhere, I decided to check my HOSTS file ( C:/Windows/System32/Drivers/Etc) - I copied the file and then deleted all entries except those that start with # (remark).

Haven't had a hung flight since - Typically takes less than 5 minutes from start to flight.

It's worth a look.

lol...I just did the same thing...and all my stress went away until I returned here.  This sim looks and runs so good compared with 2020 and that's saying a lot because 2020 looks great too.  But 2024 is so smooth and offers much more.  It just has to work or it's worthless.

I know it will all get fixed but doesn't make me feel any better right now after wasting a week of time.
