Must be your system or internet as 2024 here looks amazing! A real shame you are not seeing it right.

150 MB fiber (in the UK at the moment, not SA), a 3080 and AMD Ryzen 9.  Not an amazing system but not a potato, and FS2020 runs at a rock solid 30FPS nearly al the time.

Yeah, it's really confused me, and I've spent weeks trying to get to the bottom of it.  Then I just gave up and enjoyed 2020, which I did anyway.

  • I think we need more of these wild threads.  They're entertaining to read.

What is the dynamic performance settings feature called again?  Do you have that enabled which could be lowering your LOD settings below a certain FPS?

And no, despite it working perfectly for some here there are others on 1Gig Fiber reporting the same blurriness and LOD issues on the official forums even on XBox so while it "could" be your machine there could also still be larger issues at play some are experiencing.  It is part of the frustration how it is amazing for some and others can't even get the base textures to load properly.

I would check whatever that Dynamic LOD setting is though.  That was bringing down graphics quality for a number of users without them being aware.

Many posts on the Facebook group stating the same thing as you. I seriously doubt if all these PCs have issues.

Some XBOX users are reporting the same on the official forums which would nullify the "it's your PC" argument being made here.

Fact is the same way some people are getting hangs at installation manager in 2020 now while others are having no issues,  some are experiencing no issues with 2024 and it's amazing for them while others are clearly experiencing issues across PC and XBox platforms.  There is no coherent user experience "yet" but I am sure they will resolve it.

There are also a multitude of settings that can be impacting this but the xbox folks have streaming texture issues on 1 gig fiber definitely isn't a PC issue.

I would look for the dynamic LOD setting if I was @Langeveldt though.  Can't hurt to see if that setting is impacting your experience.

This has been my concern as well Bruce.  MS has a track record of killing off what was arguably their most successful platform for 20 years behind their OS's and MS Office.  To your point they have been known to take their bat and ball and thank goodness we had LM to pick up the slack otherwise we would have been cut off at FSX.

Someone at MS is looking at this purely from a numbers on a spreadsheet perspective so it is in all of our best interest as simmers for them to get this right.   The potential ramifications of this failing would be horrible for all of us.

Fingers crossed for everyone that is not the case and while all the negativity here doesn't bother me, I doubt anyone higher than the MS team ever checks Avsim, the larger negativity on the official forums, Steam and the WWW coupled with the refund requests on day 1 does concern me for the long term success of the franchise.  I am sure I am over reacting though, I usually do 😉

The sad reality is they fired 2,000 people from their Activision Blizzard division this year alone.  It's a business.  One thing I have learned the past few years is no one is safe in corporate America so let's all collectively hope as simmers they get this turned around as I am personally confident they will just as they have done with 2020.   They have a track record of being able to execute and it behooves all of us for them to get this right.

This is part of why I did not ask for a refund.  1.  I have confidence in them to execute and 2.  It could be more detrimental to me to get the $199 back in the long run than having $199 in my pocket now and no flight sim down the road!

Fingers crossed for all our sakes.

My sentiments as well. I did not have a positive experience with the alpha but i still  pre ordered the day before release. I have yet to install based on the numerous personal show stoppers presently in the sim  but i have not dared to request a refund. I am just hoping they rally and the product "comes good" eventually.

Good suggestion, mine is off

External Storage Three 4Tb HDs

As far as Dynamic LOD I have it off.  TLOD on 100.  150 still looks dreadful.

Same. It’s a good setting for people who don’t mind too much about visuals over frames, but it just reduces the LOD circle too much for me in dense areas. My rig isn’t quite yet a potato, and the vram on a 3090 will deal with most lods, but I don’t think I'll be able to put off an upgrade too much longer.
