Stil haven’t bought MSFS 2024. From all that I have read all those weeks it was far from ready to be released.

Maybe a few are sarisfied but the idea is that everybody can enjoy this new flightsim. And seeing all those threads about issues here and at the official MSFS 2024 forum this is absolutely not the case.

Well these are my thoughts as well. Now while I did predict that the release would be a dumpster fire that was more about server inadequacies such as we have seen many times over the years with product releases.  I never thought we would be seeing the amount of negative threads we have here on Avsim and elsewhere.  It is actually quite concerning as Microsoft have a history of taking their bat and ball and going home if things don't work out as planned.

  • I think we need more of these wild threads.  They're entertaining to read.

  • I’m flying the Max right now, LAX to BOS.  For a dead sim, it’s looking pretty good! -B

  • For dramatic effect.  Some people stirring the avsim pot.

It is what it was at day release, a total mess and disaster, maybe one of the worst software releases ever, and today and with such well-known manufacturers and developers, that's a big shame, I would say - word not allowed to such a Szenario !!

cheers 🤔

Hardly anyone could get in on release day, so it’s absolutely not what it was then.

If youre prepared to put up with a limited number of fully functioning aircraft for the time being, it’s got the best skies, weather, and fm available.

A total mess and a disaster it ain’t.

Well well well...

I have reached a point of no return ... I guess...

For me - and it makes me afraid because it's following the exact same patch MS FLIGHT did, each new session with FS 2024 is a DELIGHT !

There was a thread about naming the 3 most bugging bugs in the sim I would like to see fixed. It only came to my mind writing there: LOVE IT, LOVE IT ALL and I LOVE YA ASOBO GUYS almost as much as I do love my "Cagarini" ( the home catzzzz).

Even that request: "It should download the content", is, I believe, a non problem (?)

- I simply made my sizeoff(ROLLINGCACHE.CCC)=256GB and I only see streaming whenever I go flying a new aircraft or over a new place in the World, and honestly and based on my MSFS 2020 experience, the total amount of traffic utilization since I installed FS 2024 (twice) is inferior to the consumption I had with FS 2020 !!!

IS IT PERFECT AND FULFILLS MY AERODYNAMICS wishes ? No ! IS WEATHER PERFECT ? No !  Butzzzz, it'll get only better, and as it is right now, it's sooooo nice and smooth and rewarding and helps me flush the daily RL stress that I can't, HONESTLY, ask for more...

Yeah I guess if you fly the same routes over and over again the cache works, but if you like to fly anywhere all the time like I do as do many simmers , it  doesn't work.

This has been my concern as well Bruce.  MS has a track record of killing off what was arguably their most successful platform for 20 years behind their OS's and MS Office.  To your point they have been known to take their bat and ball and thank goodness we had LM to pick up the slack otherwise we would have been cut off at FSX.

Someone at MS is looking at this purely from a numbers on a spreadsheet perspective so it is in all of our best interest as simmers for them to get this right.   The potential ramifications of this failing would be horrible for all of us.

Fingers crossed for everyone that is not the case and while all the negativity here doesn't bother me, I doubt anyone higher than the MS team ever checks Avsim, the larger negativity on the official forums, Steam and the WWW coupled with the refund requests on day 1 does concern me for the long term success of the franchise.  I am sure I am over reacting though, I usually do 😉

The sad reality is they fired 2,000 people from their Activision Blizzard division this year alone.  It's a business.  One thing I have learned the past few years is no one is safe in corporate America so let's all collectively hope as simmers they get this turned around as I am personally confident they will just as they have done with 2020.   They have a track record of being able to execute and it behooves all of us for them to get this right.

This is part of why I did not ask for a refund.  1.  I have confidence in them to execute and 2.  It could be more detrimental to me to get the $199 back in the long run than having $199 in my pocket now and no flight sim down the road!

Fingers crossed for all our sakes.

A good reality check. And for all the problems, and complaints, mine included, FS2024 is an incredible gift for the simmer, just as 2020 was. Although it’s not going to be installed for some time I have no regret in buying and supporting it. In fact I would save my pennies and pay five times as much as I did. Looking back at FSX and before, this sim is incredible and something I never dreamed would come. it’s success is vital.

Every flight I take in FS2024 makes me dislike it a little bit more.  The slush of terrain texture below me, the hangs and crashes.  The blurry mountains, the aircraft textures loading in.  I hate it so much.

On the flip side, it does make me appreciate what a masterpiece FS2020 became.

Probably that yes, and works beautifully in my case because the only exception to flying Portula and Spain only is now when trying Challenges or other Activities, or sporadically when searchin for airfields with bad weather to go flying there...

Is it something on your system not up to the job?  I am not seeing the blurriness you mention in most of the places I fly.

Hang in there a bit longer for the bigger patch next week 🙂

2024 will become a masterpiece too.  Do you remember the release of 2020?  HAHA what a joke of a sim for the first few months.

I remember being frustrated by some things, the weird AI traffic, but being essentially completely blown away by it all.  Moving my whole machine to another part of the house so it would download quicker.  We were all at the Cosford Sim Expo staring at the little monitor of the trailer completely speechless.  I remember the bugs meaning I could only do the Croatia bush flying flights for a few days, yet still being totally blown away.

Now it's all just a drag.  Just trying to get it to look anything like as good as 2020, the jankiness, the glitch, the arrogance of chucking even the Cessna 172 on the cloud so that when it loads it's all blurry.  My cache is 64 GB and my internet is reasonably fast.  The missions are okay and the only reason I've bothered with it at all. Every so often I do a flight past Table Mountain to check if it's not just a complete swamp of low resolution texturing and stutter.  Every time I do it is, and so I put the sim away and play 2020 for another week.

I'm genuinely glad you and others are having a good time on it.  I'm not here to flame. And it doesn't stop 2020 being everything I want it to be.  I don't think I've ever been as disappointed in a release since Sim City 2013 or Cities Skylines 2.  It's up there with the worst ever for mine.  It just looks and plays so dreadfully (for me).

Must be your system or internet as 2024 here looks amazing! A real shame you are not seeing it right.
