December 23, 20241 yr The lighting and details are superior in MSFS 2004. Unfortunately, graphics means nothing if 2024 is plagued with bugs and issues.

Of course, but the natural course of events will mean the graphics will long outlast the bugs and issues. I have uninstalled 2024 and gone back to 2020 (after previously having uninstalled 2020). Happy to wait another 6 months if needed. Edited December 23, 20241 yr by ErichB

December 23, 20241 yr In terms of graphics, MSFS 2020 was a revolution, 2024 is a simple evolution pretty disappointing. Bugs and glitches apart, I don't feel the same "wow" than 4 years ago. Something that irritates me a lot is the lack of improvements made to the autogen and the ships that look like those of FSX. When you see Gibraltar and the excellent quality of the rock, you don't understand why the ships around it are so ugly, especially when you know the love and the extraordinary work done by KL791 with GAIST. That said, I'm about to uninstall MSFS 2020 (yes, yes!) just because of the sooooo long loading time compared to the 2 minutes max between clicking on 2024's icon and being in the cockpit. That's huge step in the right direction IMO. - PC Hardware: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D // Asus ROG Crosshair X870E HERO // 2x32Gb Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5 6000MT/s CL30 // ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4090 OC Edition // 4Tb Corsair NVMe M.2 MP600 // Corsair 1600W PSU Samsung Odyssey Arc 55" curved 165 Hz monitor. - Simulator Hardware: VIRPIL Constellation Alpha Prime + VIRPIL VPC Universal Control Panel - #3 + MOZA AY210 Force Feedback Yoke + WINWING URSA MINOR 32 Throttle & PAC Metal + WINWING SKYWALKER Metal Rudder Pedals + WINWING Airbus FCU & EFIS + WINWING Boeing 3N PAP + WINWING MCDU-32 + WINWING PFP-4 + WINWING PFP 3-N + WINWING PFP-7.
December 23, 20241 yr The loading times in MSFS 2020 do not even come close to being a problem that would force me to jump ship. The initial load when I fire up MSFS 2020 in a morning is irrelevant, since I am doing other things whilst it is loading. I am also not that bothered about the load times when I select an airport, as they are not all that excessive. December 23, 20241 yr Well, when you have to tweak some settings, close and reload the sim several times, then it might be relevant. At least for me 😉 And I am not talking about this nasty "Checking for updates" bug that I Was NEVER able to fix. Sometimes I have to reload MSFS 2020 five times or more before it starts up normally. - PC Hardware: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D // Asus ROG Crosshair X870E HERO // 2x32Gb Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5 6000MT/s CL30 // ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4090 OC Edition // 4Tb Corsair NVMe M.2 MP600 // Corsair 1600W PSU Samsung Odyssey Arc 55" curved 165 Hz monitor. - Simulator Hardware: VIRPIL Constellation Alpha Prime + VIRPIL VPC Universal Control Panel - #3 + MOZA AY210 Force Feedback Yoke + WINWING URSA MINOR 32 Throttle & PAC Metal + WINWING SKYWALKER Metal Rudder Pedals + WINWING Airbus FCU & EFIS + WINWING Boeing 3N PAP + WINWING MCDU-32 + WINWING PFP-4 + WINWING PFP 3-N + WINWING PFP-7.

Well, now that is a different ballgame. I have never encountered problems like that. I guess I must be in the same group of individuals who aren't having any problems in MSFS 2024 😁 Christopher Low AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU / 64GB DDR5-6000 RAM / 12GB Nvidia RTX 4070 Super GPU / Gigabyte X870E Aorus Elite Wifi 7 / 1+2TB Samsung Evo Plus M2 Nvme UK2000 Beta Tester
December 23, 20241 yr Actually Chris, I too appreciate 2024 more and more. After struggling with the GUI for weeks, I even find it much more efficient and effective than the previous one. 😉 So only idiots don't change their minds and I regret having been so radical in my first criticisms. The only fault of Asobo/Microsoft is not having provided explanatory videos before and during the launch, which would have avoided nervous breakdowns and discouragement. I also have absolutely NO streaming problems since the beginning and everything is super smooth, so much so that sometimes when I read the reviews (legitimate and justified without a doubt) on 2024 I have the impression that we are not talking about the same product. But I don't say it too loudly... These things are very capricious and the wind can change very quickly! 😊 - PC Hardware: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D // Asus ROG Crosshair X870E HERO // 2x32Gb Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5 6000MT/s CL30 // ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4090 OC Edition // 4Tb Corsair NVMe M.2 MP600 // Corsair 1600W PSU Samsung Odyssey Arc 55" curved 165 Hz monitor. - Simulator Hardware: VIRPIL Constellation Alpha Prime + VIRPIL VPC Universal Control Panel - #3 + MOZA AY210 Force Feedback Yoke + WINWING URSA MINOR 32 Throttle & PAC Metal + WINWING SKYWALKER Metal Rudder Pedals + WINWING Airbus FCU & EFIS + WINWING Boeing 3N PAP + WINWING MCDU-32 + WINWING PFP-4 + WINWING PFP 3-N + WINWING PFP-7.

Have we reached 100 yet for comparisons posts comparing 2020 to 2024, they all seem like nonsense. Fly the one you like! As I've repeated before, this is just YouTube Clickbait garbage. Yawn! Apparently this person as an expert on the games environments! Won't waste my time watching but many of these comparisons mean nothing because many of us have different computer systems and have the game settings setup differently.

And there are some default planes where the contracted developer didn't do a good job. My understanding is that Carenado did a poor job with fixing the bugs for the PC-24 for MSFS 2024's release. Having said that, if you are using a good plane and you aren't using any incompatible add-ons, Free Flight mode is in a decent state. By a "good plane," I am referring to one that isn't buggy like the default Carenado PC-24. For example, I use the default Cessna 172 G1000 and it flies quite good and I haven't noticed any bugs with it so far. Now if you have a good plane that is compatible with MSFS 2024, Free Flight mode right now in MSFS 2024 is probably more stable than MSFS 2020, one month after MSFS 2020's release. I remember one month after MSFS 2020's release, there was constant CTDs. CTDs are much rarer in Free Flight mode with MSFS 2024 at the moment. i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM
