That's funny I was 100% certain of the exact opposite--no context 2024 drastically better night lighting in that setting. No disappointment here--this is fully anticipated. I think a lot of what you refer to regarding "simple evolution" is a function of just how much performance demand is associated with taking something graphically revolutionary and improving it further graphically such that it's very obvious. For example despite the alleged polygon density increased by a factor of up to 4000x you're not necessarily going to notice this until you get closer to objects. Same triple same for cloud depiction, only way worse since it fully 3D thru and thru. Just listening to those 2024 users who operate the sim within its current capabilities it's pretty clear to me it's a substantial improvement, again in line with expectations, so no disappointment whatsoever. Back in Pentium 386 Pro and Voodoo Graphics two years down the road could double resolution which was obvious....because the starting point was so poor. Not the case nowadays in sim world. In fact unless we come up with a totally new 3D voxel model we won't see clouds that look like this for many years or a decade+ to come: Edited December 24, 20241 yr by Noel Noel System: 9900X3D Noctua NH-D15 G2, MSI Pro 650-P WiFi, G.SKILL 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000, WD NVMe 2Tb x 1, Sabrent NVMe 2Tb x 1, RTX 4090 FE, Corsair RM1000W PSU, Win11 Home, LG Ultra Curved Gsync Ultimate 3440x1440, Phanteks Enthoo Pro Case, TCA Boeing Edition Yoke & TQ, Cessna Trim Wheel, RTSS Framerate Limiter w/ Front Edge Sync. The reason why I say that, (and I dont know which airport this is so lamp post and light positions will be key) is that the terminal roofs seem way to bright in the 2024 where in the 2020 on, the ground around the gates are lit but not the whole building, evenly, and brightly like in 2024. Also the blue and green taxi lights are way to bright in 2024 compared to the 2020 which I feel best reflects RL. Airports at night are more a dark spot then not. Now outside the airport fence line then yeah, 2024 looks better. i9-13900K O/C | ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 Hero | 32GB DDR5 6000MHz Kingston FURY | RTX 4090 24GB | 2x SSD M.2 (2TB Samsung 990 PRO) 1x SSD (4TB Samsung 870 EVO) | Windows 11 Home | H20: HydroLux PRO:HardLine Tubing| 1000w PSU | Starlink WiFi

Fly the one you like! As I've repeated before, this is just YouTube Clickbait garbage. Yawn! Apparently this person as an expert on the games environments! Won't waste my time watching but many of these comparisons mean nothing because many of us have different computer systems and have the game settings setup differently. December 24, 20241 yr I will get MSFS2024 eventually. I suppose the tide of progress is unstoppable, especially given that Asobo appears to be invested in this project.
December 24, 20241 yr 2020 was a big step up - but that wasn't hard because flight SIM was stuck in the Jurassic period - but kudos to Asobo because they saved the genre from extinction ultimately. 2024 is a small incremental step, and as I see it the only real improvements of significant note is the lighting and tesselation - which frankly is not even revolutionary but just bringing this into the modern standards of PC gaming.
