I've started my Career :-) AT LAST !!!!

Featured Replies

It's FUN!

I already enjoy the Activities / Challenges, just like I did in MS FLIGHT, but had been avoiding the Career experience because some opinions show aspects that leave something to be desired, but a couple days ago I sterted it, picked a small airfield not far from Lisboa, and got my PPL...

Now I'm accumulating missions before I apply for the CPL, or even the Rotaries, haven't yet decided which I will pick first.

There are surelly issues like, for instance, starting a flight from an airfiled which is closed nowadays, and has part of the runway laying inside of restricted airspace, which FS 2024 correctly identifies, punishing me for the inccursion which I can't avoid because I have to takeoff and land in that small runway, but, ok, I don't mind...

I'm a lousy pilot so far 🙂 - not that different from RL anyway... 😜

But overall, I am enjoying it !!! Really !!! 👍

OP seems to swing back and forth more than a pendulum with their feedback sometimes LOL

I think they are serious about this one though.

100% serious!

Enjoying, even if aware of the limitations, and actually being probably more involved on itvthan in simulating airline flying, at least until I get the FSLabs for FS2024.

In my other platform there's nothing like it, so I use it mostly for Airliner simulation...

I believe people mix being critic about all platforms I use, while at times also being positive, with "swing"...

I've used them all, I would use even more should I have the time and patience for it, but those that I use the most always will get positive as well as negative comments from me...

This particular feature of FS 2024, as well as the Activities / Challenges, are aspects of the sim that I really appreciate and like to play with.

Until now I started the sim most of the time to try a flight from or into an airfield under bad weather, or to simulate an A320 flight with the FENIX. In FS 2024 I started playing the Activities, Missions and Challenges since a while, but I hadn't yet tried to "start a Career" 🙂

I also started playing with the Inibuilds default A330, inspired by a post by @Cpt_Piett, and although it is not up to the level of a FENIX, PMDG or even  the FBW 320NEO and 380, I am enjoying it.

You're not alone, JCOMM! I'm flying light cargo missions mostly; it's been fun to plot out routes around the Rocky Mountains to get into small airstrips. I'm still bugged (pun intended) by a lot of the issues with it, but I'm having fun, nonetheless.

I've been enjoying the career mode as well. I have gotten super frustrated with it at times. Attempting the change the assigned flight path with the EFB will often (at least for me) cause the flight to bug out and loose the ability of the garmin to follow the flight plan. Or worse still, I didn't get credit for and entire 1+ hr flight. I think once they get those annoying bugs ironed out it will be even better.

Yep !  One thing I've learned is to never have the temptation to fast forward into the landing phase because I'll arrive there too high and too fast 😕

- Rather fly the whole visual circuit.

Also, just has it happened to me, I am sure it may have happened to many other users regarding some areas you are supposed to cross or even takeoff / land on being restricted or even prohibited in the active charts, and while FS 2024 is aware of it and correctly notifies you of the "incursion" you have no way of avoiding it...

There are certainly many other bugs / inaccuracies, but at least for now the balance is positive and I'm enjoying it.

I will try to explore the chance to use ATC in Career mode, although it's not very comfortable because I use all ATC and Traffic Off due to BATC or FSHUD and FSLTL being my ATC and Traffic injectors.

Each FS 2024 update reverts ATC and AI to active, and I have to go there to each menu and disable it again, so, it's just a question of reenabling it when playing Career mode.

Yeah, I have a love hate relationship with career mode. Some of the bugs that result in a crash and drop the reputation are a real PITA. The weather and turbulence are really awful in some of them. Landing a 208 with a 50+knot 90degree crosswind is not fun. And sometimes it sits waiting for input but won't accept any - only option is to start moving which generates an error.

But, even with all that, it's really fun.

I'll try to reach this level one day 😍

Still doing lots of missions, already a a CPL pilot... but still far from a budget allowing for such a purchase ...
