Sooo what am I missing if I’m able to run ultra settings and have a high performing sim using TAA? What exactly does DLSS do that has so many people excited over TAA? I’m honestly not too familiar with these new technologies.

It should provide similar looking visuals with better frames. More of a solution for people getting lower fps or those in VR.

Ryzen 9800X3D, RTX 5090, 64GB, Win 11. MSFS2020. Moza, MFG, Fulcrum & Virpil controllers. Quest 3 for VR.

Got round to setting this up for MSFS2020 today. First time using the Nvidia app, just used the control panel previously. Process was simple and worked first time without any issues. Will need to do some proper testing over the weekend to see the benefits.

Steps I took:

  • Opened MSFS2020 and switched VR graphics mode from TAA to DLSS
  • Closed MSFS2020
  • Installed latest Nvidia driver using the clean install method
  • Rebooted PC
  • Disabled DX Shader cache in Nvidia settings and rebooted PC (Optional)
  • Deleted DX Shader cache (Optional)
  • Rebooted PC
  • Enabled DX Shader Cache as driver default (Only required if you used the previous optional steps to disable and clear this)
  • Installed Nvidia app
  • Selected MSFS 2020 in Nvidia app and selected the 'Latest' option for the DLSS driver settings

The latest model preset gives you 'K' but you can manually select 'J' or earlier if preferred. Deleted 2024 previously as I'm waiting for Asobo to get that sim in some kind of respectable order for VR.

A tip, if you use DDU when uninstalling older Nvidia drivers you don't need to clean out any cache files manually because all files related to Nvidia will be deleted from the computer, even from the registry.

Has anyone been able to get this driver to work with MSFS2020? I spent 5 hours today to restore it to work

just fine. I first de-installed the older driver using Windows default un-install procedure (no DDU or other external tools required) and only then installed 572.16

and then chose "clean install" in the Nvidia driver installation

60-130 fps. no CPU overclocking.

very nice.

yes, I just installed the new driver with a clean install, no nvidia app or anything, and it works just fine.

9800X3d, 4090, 64 GB DDR5 6000 RAM, 4 TB NVME (2x2), 4K Ultra + Framegen

I followed the advice of turbomax. It worked. I thought that a clean installation of the new driver would completely remove the old one

For those that don’t have/ don’t want to use new nvidia APP or whereby new nvidia app has everything greyed out:-

I downloaded the latest Nvidia Profile Inspector (version 2.4.0.8) from GitHub.
https://github.com/Orbmu2k/nvidiaProfileInspector/releases/download/2.4.0.8/nvidiaProfileInspector.zip

I ran Nvidia Profile Inspector as an administrator and, in the Global Profile, set 0x00000001 for the following settings:

Enable DLSS-FG override

Enable DLSS-SR override

Enable DLSS-RR override

set 0x00FFFFFF for the following settings:

Override DLSS-RR preset

Override DLSS-SR presets

I clicked Apply changes in the top right corner to confirm the changes.

This is all that you need to do! No need to swap or download any dll files or mess around with any profiles or anything else. It’s simple!

If you're copying my posts, please be sure to add a link to the source. The source is the official MSFS forum.

So could you please edit your post and add a link to the source with a note that you found the suggestion there and the author is TenPatrol?

Right now, it looks like you wrote it yourself, but it seems you copied my post and made a few small edits to shorten it.

Thank you!

I got the new DLSS file swapped, but if I go into the Nvidia app and try to change the DLSS Model Override Presets to latest it would let me click apply.  Any ideas?
