For those that don’t have/ don’t want to use new nvidia APP or whereby new nvidia app has everything greyed out:-

I downloaded the latest Nvidia Profile Inspector (version 2.4.0.8) from GitHub.
https://github.com/Orbmu2k/nvidiaProfileInspector/releases/download/2.4.0.8/nvidiaProfileInspector.zip

I ran Nvidia Profile Inspector as an administrator and, in the Global Profile, set 0x00000001 for the following settings:

Enable DLSS-FG override

Enable DLSS-SR override

Enable DLSS-RR override

set 0x00FFFFFF for the following settings:

Override DLSS-RR preset

Override DLSS-SR presets

I clicked Apply changes in the top right corner to confirm the changes.

This is all that you need to do! No need to swap or download any dll files or mess around with any profiles or anything else. It’s simple!

So Nvidia profile inspector takes newest DLSS .dll and profiles from nvidia driver?

I am on the latest Driver 572.16

NPI is on 2.4.0.8

DLSS is 310.2.1.0

The .xml is up to date

In NPI i changed all settings accordingly. Except for "Override DLSS-SR presets". This is simply not there. I dont have a setting of that name in NPI global profile or game specific profile.

Any ideas?

No they are not. No need to shout either.

HE IS NOT SHOUTING. YOU CAN TELL BY THE COMMENT BEING MADE.

yes, it accesses the dll's dynamically now.

I tried to follow Ian’s method as well.

All ok up to the point where ‘Override DLSS-SR presets” is not showing. Just like wined posted.

Hope somebody can jump in with some thoughts on this.

Running SU1 and 572.16, MSFS2024 looks magnificent and runs flawlessly. I have decided there is really nothing to gain from trying to use DLSS 4 any more so I'm not going to bother jumping through any more hoops to do it. Not should I. As far as I can see the benefits would be barely perceptible to me so until Asobo and or Nvidia can make it work by default - I am out. Thank you and good day.

I agree, all this jumping thru hoops to get a small gain in frames and graphics, Nvidia App does not Optimize FS24' no matter what I do anyway, so uninstall it and use the 572.16 driver and go with in game settings for graphics, no sense in something being this complicated for a small benefit.

No there won't be an ending for a very long time. Now that the holy grail of photoreal worldwide scenery (from ground level to the stratosphere) at a locked 240fps is the ultimate goal for a flight sim expect daily tweaks for a very long time to come.

Once the above is achieved something else indispensable in a sim will be put in front of us. Maybe surround sound from every conceivable sound source in the world needs to be in our ears next? I'd actually be OK with that one!

will take a while since no normal user can currently buy one. sold out within 3 minutes world wide. talk about paper launch. I think TSMC can just not produce enough chips because the yield rate is too low.

Got round to setting this up for MSFS2020 today. First time using the Nvidia app, just used the control panel previously. Process was simple and worked first time without any issues. Will need to do some proper testing over the weekend to see the benefits.

Steps I took:

  • Opened MSFS2020 and switched VR graphics mode from TAA to DLSS
  • Closed MSFS2020
  • Installed latest Nvidia driver using the clean install method
  • Rebooted PC
  • Disabled DX Shader cache in Nvidia settings and rebooted PC (Optional)
  • Deleted DX Shader cache (Optional)
  • Rebooted PC
  • Enabled DX Shader Cache as driver default (Only required if you used the previous optional steps to disable and clear this)
  • Installed Nvidia app
  • Selected MSFS 2020 in Nvidia app and selected the 'Latest' option for the DLSS driver settings

The latest model preset gives you 'K' but you can manually select 'J' or earlier if preferred. Deleted 2024 previously as I'm waiting for Asobo to get that sim in some kind of respectable order for VR.

Such a mess to properly configure... sorry 😕

I'm staying with my more than enough TAA... After all I am on 3060 Ti (8 GB) anyway...

Try removing the "Custom Setting Names" file from the NPI directory if you installed DLSS 4 before the official release. If this file is in the directory the "Override DLSS-SR presets" option will not appear. I had the same problem and it worked in my case.

Sooo what am I missing if I’m able to run ultra settings and have a high performing sim using TAA? What exactly does DLSS do that has so many people excited over TAA? I’m honestly not too familiar with these new technologies.
