PMDG 737 in 2024

Featured Replies

So I was able to more or less complete an entire flight with the PMDG 738 in 2024! Route was KSEA - KLAS using Live Weather, Say Intentions, and kind of GSX Pro. I spawned on the runway then used GSX to "warp" to the gate, connected ground power and gate, turned off engines, loaded a Simbrief FP (This took restarting a few times), and away I went. When trying to do the turn back into Seattle, trim and engine indications broke again but, I did manage one flight. For me the Max that came with the sim is just not good. I have tried for hours to complete a flight in it but to no avail and I just wanted a Boeing to fly. So, the PMDG does work, but YMMV. I am using SU1 Beta though.

Interesting, thank you for sharing. I guess the question I have is why will it take so long for them to make it functional in 2024 like it is in 2020? Sounds like it wouldn’t take a lot of work.

Now I’m not suggesting they take advantage of all the bells and whistles 2024 has but just make it compatible to fly what we have. At least at first.

Did you switch your transponder on for the flight?

That is a massive assumption to make just because someone has completed one reasonably successful flight.

Thanks very much for the info. Are the displays in 2024 SU1 Beta brighter or same as no beta? (regarding pmdg 737)

PMDG said on their forum that the 737 at present won't work with MS 2024, so I guess I wonder why anyone would try flying it in 2024? 🤔

Though the official word is that 2024 is not supported at present and there are things that will not work as intended. There are quite a few people who are flying it in 2024. Is it buggy? Yes, but they are willing to deal with the bugs in order to fly it in 2024. It could be that they only have 2024 installed, or just prefer 2024 as a whole over 2020 that they are willing to put up with it.

I can't say I liked their communication on the porting of the PMDG aircraft. Instead of just saying that they are working hard on porting these and targeting ASAP + being clear on whether there's an upgrade price or not, they keep going around with "optimism needle" and being vague about whether or not the upgrade for 2024 is free or not, when other airplane developers have already ported and offered an upgrade for free or have put in place a different business model (like inibuilds with their enhanced vs premium models). Rant over, I love the PMDG aircraft 🙂

SI switches it automatically when receiving clearance

PMDG looks just as good in 2024 as it does in 2020. I cannot get the included MAX to work correctly at all in 2024. IMHO it needs a complete rework

I still have 2020 installed alongside 2024 I just prefer the visuals in 2024 over 2020 even though 2020 is much more polished

Actually now I have had 3 decent flights but again, cannot do a turn (back to back)

"Hi guys, I eventually tried driving my new car to my home town but guess what? I arrived in one piece. Now the front wheel fell off when I turned onto the highway, and I barely missed crashing into another car because the tail lights don't work, but I managed to wrestle the car under control (sorry, there are issues with the axle) and make it up the road to the nearest gas station. I filled it up with gas but then a warning light came on and smoke started rising from the engine. Somehow it started again and I managed to drive it another 25 miles before the smoke turned from black to white and I couldn't see where I was going. I lost all electronics as I turned onto my street and I rolled to a stop 100 meters from my house, just as flames appeared under the hood. I'm going to try again tomorrow but I LOVE MY CAR, it is so much better than the last one that worked absolutely perfectly."

And we're off! Ladies and gentlemen take your seats please.

So sym are you saying 2020 is like a classic piece of furniture with that sweet wood shine but you prefer the modern IKEA look even if someone assembled it without reading the instructions first?
