This guy is one of those relatively undiscovered gems of the flightsim community. He has helped me out with several issues in MSFS 2020 over the past year, so he deserves all the praise that he can ge

  • AL has become indispensable for me, for both MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024. I really appreciate all the work to keep it updated and working well 😊

BTW: I recently added Malwarebytes (which took over from Windows Defender). It didn't flag the archive as dangerous, so it looks like [yet] another Defender false positive.

Just wanted to reassure;)

Hello, it's normal, I removed the file because a few users are getting false positive from Windows Defender when downloading it (not sure if it's because of the file being hosted on Mediafire).

I can't edit the first post so i can't put the info there, it was a bit down the first page. I will send you a link to the file via private message if you want to check it out.

🍻

Apparently they have had issues with their upload service through a lot of March but according to their "status" it's been up now for 2 days. Might be worth trying again @Bad_T.
Although that doesn't explain why they don't answer their support questions.

Thank you for your input @BrianT , but unfortunately no, it must be a particular problem with my account because lots of other users are getting their addons updated every day, for me it just freezes everytime (can't even click on the menu). I have tried everything i could think of (clear cookies, different browser, different PC, disabling security softwares and addons extensions, even VPN but it just freezes). 🙊

I have tried probably more than 20 times per day every day of the week since last Sunday, if it was a known issue affecting everyone it would be known and there would be some sort sort of official statement about it guess 😁

EDIT : oh i just remembered that i had another upload on FS.TO (an old fix not needed anymore for PAJN that is now hidden/removed but it's still in my account addons list). That one i can edit it if I want without problem, so well, it's probably just the AL update page that freezes, really strange.

EDIT2 : for the defender warning, maybe, as you 'hinted', it was the double dot before the expansion, i sent the same file but renamed via mediafire to a user who had the problem with defender and he could download it with no issue (but now i don't dare reposting a link in public), oh well it's all a bit strange, a bit like msfs2024, you never know what's going to happen 😁

I did wonder where they had gone when it came to their forum/messaging, it appears they now frequent Discord and it seems they're quite active on there so may be owrth giving there a try to contact them if you haven't already.

@Bad_T I'm the one among author that update their addons without any issue and very often. I personally use the email help at flightsim.to to receive personal support. Hope it helps as MSFS Addons Linkers is part of my toolbox. Thank you!

Hello all;

Is there a place where the update is available to download?

Thanks!

I should be able to upload a new official version on the fs.to site this evening (CET time). They fixed my issue last night (was a little bug on their site). 👍

In the meantime, @SKEWR, i sent you a little private message with a link if you want to grab the one posted last week.

Slightly off-topic - but at least I know Bad_T is monitoring posts here (that'll teach you!).

This is to do with Official Folder Management (in Options/Advanced) ...

I've never felt the need to go down this route with MSFS 2020 or the previous iterations of AL for MSFS 2024, but I thought I'd give it a try - though don't ask me why!

Does this feature work, using (the latest) v0.27.9222.36936 with MSFS 2024 SU1?

I can't get it to do anything - in that it just doesn't create the links in any of the various target folders I try. I'm guessing it just doesn't work [yet] - but it'd be nice to know that it's not just me being stupid (!).

It really isn't *that* important - as normal Linker use is just fine - I was just wondering ;)

I don't think this works in 2024 as MAsobo only seem to stream the "official" stuff nowadays. You can use AL to put stuff in to the community folder as ever, but the official folders ("Official2020" and "Official2024") are empty, and instead you've got a "StreamedPackages" folder which seems to contain all the stuff you manage via the "my library" option in-sim.

This is yet another of those areas MAsobo needs to get sorted and settled. They originally talked about being able to download any streamed packages and accessing them locally. I have always assumed this would mean getting the packages downloaded and living in one of those above mentioned folders, at which point I could manage them via the Linnker in the way I did (do) with 2020.

But the MAsobo said lots of things about 2024 that are turning out to be, shall we just say, fanciful.

Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. Sims in use - 2020, 2024, XP-12 and -11, FSX/SE, P3Dv4.5 and v5.4. DCS and AFS2 installed but rarely used

hello 🍻

Yes, it's still a bit mysterious for me too, i left the option there but for 2024, for now, it's not really useful because everything seems managed by the StreamPackages folder. There is an Official2024 folder (also an Official 2020 folder) but on my system it's empty and i'm not sure if it's already filled by some folders for other users.

So, well yeah, the option is there but not sure if useful or not (it can still be used to link to a different folder than the real community folder but not sure if very useful), we'll find out along the way 👍

It certainly is a mystery!

BTW - I tried linking to a dummy folder (completely outside MSFS) and checked permissions etc. but no links got created. Again - whether or not if that's useful remains to be seen!
