I want to keep my vRam between 6 & 9. 2K looked much better, but it takes up 19 GIGs of HD space as apposed to 5 GIG @ 1k. I currently use medium settings for TR. I am not seeing blurry textures

E.g. when sitting on a gate, the planes directly next to you look bad, if this is not noticable to you, well... I fly in VR (Reverb G2). Admittedly I don't tend to be 10 feet away from airliners, but the 1K textured aircraft look just fine to me from normal distance when I am taxiing around airports. Sure I could walk up to them and probably see some quality downgrade, but for the way I use the sim, the 1K textures are just fine (and really help VRAM and FPS). Flight simming will probably always be a bit of give and take... In this case I will take the massive improvement in performance and resource usage over the (in my opinion) very slight degradation of image quality. For the record, my vision is terrible without corrective lenses - so your "you must be blind..." comment is not too far off 😁

It still takes a minute or more longer than without the FSLTL fleet enabled. I don't think ANYONE goes through the effort of lowering texture size for the sake of improving loading times... It's all about VRAM usage and (to a lesser extend) improving FPS performance. If we all had 32GB GPUs it probably would not be an issue at all, but since I'm stuck with only 16GB VRAM, I will lower VRAM usage anywhere I can. Edited April 30, 20251 yr by PlumCrazy
April 30, 20251 yr Well, did actually measure it? I have with AIG at 75% and all and every airline at EGLL for example roughly 1.5GB VRAM loss compared to no traffic at all. 1.5GB. With 1K, this would theoretically result in 750MB savings. Just not worth the hassle imho. Even more because the calculation is not 1 to 1, 4K textures do not use up another 1.5GB VRAM...
