April 27, 20251 yr Just recently every time I exit/close MSFS2020 using the menu system (return to main menu then return to desktop) MSFS disappears from the screen but its icon remains on the task bar and I find that MSFS2020 remains listed in the Task Manager as running and high on CPU usage. As such I cannot run MSFS again as I am advised it is still running. I have to manually close it in Task Manager. What is causing that and how do I fix it? Thanks Regards John Gigabyte Z390 m/b, i7 9700K cpu, 16Gb Hyper X Fury 3200 ram, RTX2060 6Gb, Gigabyte 32" monitor, MSFS 2020 store edition

Thanks It's a recent bug introduced by Asobo and they are aware. It's been discussed in the following topics. April 27, 20251 yr Long thread on this forum titled MS shutdown problem, on page 2. A batch file was recommended and it works. Edited April 27, 20251 yr by Bobsk8

Decided to fly some NON BETA flights. First thing I noticed is how absolutely beautiful 2020 has become. Every bit on par with 2024 in many ways and light years beyond what it was on release day over four years ago. Second thing was this annoying shut down bug which I assumed was only affecting a few but in research I see it is widespread and probably would be more discussed if not for the masses, like me, who are/were OCD fixated on 2024. A patch/hotfix from Asobo is being loudly clamored for and I fully concur LoL. Thanks again, -B

I am not impacted. I even double checked task manager after shutting down yesterday and MSFS had shut down as expected. I think it's far more likely to be an add-on than a core sim issue or I would expect everyone to be impacted. So many variables but it's clearly not a local system issue for this many people to be impacted! Outside the sim I run Lossless scaling, DLSS with Frame Gen on in sim I also run: ASFS, SPAD, Winwing Simapp, Simshaker, OI4FS, Sky4Sim EFB, FSHUD, Wideclient, Pac-x and the Navigraph client I am flying Flying 777 and 737 (PMDG) exclusively with FS2Crew and RAAS A bunch of hardware No issues on shutdown... Maybe people impacted are also running something NOT on that list?? Edit: Another thought is to check systray... I have a number of things that don't auto shutdown and remain running in systray "after" MSFS shuts such as Aviasoft, Sky4Sim, Simshaker, FSHud and a couple of others. I always manually exit out of those as well. So check systray for running clients tied to MSFS and shut them down as well. Edited April 27, 20251 yr by psolk Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
