Latest driver works flawlessly for me in MSFS2020. Not touching 2024 until it is stable in VR and performing better.

Ryzen 9800X3D, RTX 5090, 64GB, Win 11. MSFS2020. Moza, MFG, Fulcrum & Virpil controllers. Quest 3 for VR.

Actually what I have been saying for decades is never fall behind on your PC drivers.  lol dd

Holy word not allowed just upgraded to the newest driver and it’s amazing! 4090, MSFS 2024 SU2 Beta, did a clean driver install and deleted cache (except for the files it wouldn’t let me delete) and I get such amazing performance with full BATC traffic! It’s like a different sim!!!

Do the filters work with the new driver? My hands are itching to try it tonight

No, only the 2 RTX filters show up.

Finally gave the new 576.28's a shot.  So far so good on my 4090.  I've still seen a lot of issues reported in their feedback thread for 50 series, but guess there's not much owners of those can do since they've had issues since launch with the drivers.  At least I'm finally off the 566.36 drivers and can take advantage of DLSS 4 features that my card supports.  If anyone is running a 40 series or older card and having problems with the newer drivers though I can definitely recommend grabbing those 566's.  They're still on Nvidia's driver search page, just change the download type to "game ready" instead of "all" or the list won't have enough space to show them.  Looks like probably 1-2 more driver releases before they'll get booted off the list like that.

I should note on my post above that I do not have the new Nvidia app installed.  Saw something about it in a different thread and apparently causing issues on the 576.28's.  I just use the old school Nvidia Control Panel that's been around for like 20 years still.

So now that folks have contributed at least ten different driver versions on the previous 3+ pages, how do we figure out which is the most stable?

We don't, you do.

What works for me might not work for you so the only way to find out, if you have the time and the inclination is to try it (or them) yourself.

Or another one which could be even better. Just one of those decisions you have to make in life.

Yep, for me the only reason at all I upgraded from 566.36 was because I wanted access to DLSS4 features for some other games.  I know I can "hack" it into MSFS 2024 but since official support for it is coming in SU2 I'm not going to bother.  If I hadn't wanted it for some other stuff I'd have been happy to sit on 566.36 for a while.  At least two of the techtube channels I follow have reported the general consensus across sites like Reddit/etc it that 566.36 is the most stable not taking into account the latest release that just came out a couple days ago (videos were made during the double hotfix times) unless you need newer drivers due to running a 50 series.

I base driver selection on the games I play.

Currently regularly playing Civ 7, Monster Hunter Wilds, MSFS 2024, DCS and Crusader Kings.   That's it.

Have a 5090.

The latest driver works great on all those titles, EXCEPT Monster Hunter Wilds.  Constant crashes. It is maddening.

So I rolled back the driver to 572.83 (March 2025 driver).  MHW is stable and pretty much max settings, and works well with the other titles.

I do feel like I'm losing performance in MSFS 2024, but not by a material amounts as the latest driver works really well with MSFS.  But I put in a fair amount of time into MHW, and I didn't want to keep on rolling back drivers constantly. MSFS 2024 is fine (for me) with 572.83.

So 572.83 it is!

I am running MSFS2024 at 4k on a 3080Ti… so performance optimization is important. The newer drivers have caused CTDs and hence the question. I should have put in the GPU information before- sorry!

So when DLSS4 came on the scene there were multiple steps needed (download the DLL files for DLSS4, modify settings in nvidia Inspector, etc.) to get the benefit of DLSS4. Is all that still required if updating to the latest nvidia drivers? Or is it simply a matter of installing the latest driver through the nvidia app or through NVCleanInstall?

If it makes any difference I have a 4090 card.

Thanks in advance for any advice.
