ETA: re the flaps and rudder, gonna do a comparo with JF Arrow in XP, with and without REP, and see how that goes. Never had that flaps ballooning thing with their Arrow before...

I did a comparo flight in XP 12.1 today:

JF Arrow III v12 stock

JF Arrow III v12 + REP

JF Turbo Arrow III v11 + REP (REP replaces enough of the "guts" to enable the addon to work just fine in XP V12).

Same airports, historical weather for yesterday at same time.

Coulda used today's weather as it's pretty much the same, tho 😆

In short, I didn't run into short final ballooning effect with half flaps.

Rudder effort is similar to A2A Comanche, but a bit more pronounced (i.e., more what I expected). Not at all like the nearly full deflections i needed in the new MSFS version.

All very unscientific and anecdotal, so have your salt shakers ready!

And the MSFS version just released, so perhaps they'll take a closer look at that.

Other than those two questions, the MSFS Arrow flies quite nicely and compares very well with the other Hi Fi Pipers I have.

Definitely a nice plane to have back in the hangar, and I greatly appreciate JF's generosity with the free upgrade!

Hi all. We were aiming to release updates today but have decided to postpone until tomorrow to give us more time for installer and testing work. Coming tomorrow (PA28 Arrow III v11.1, Turbo Arrow

  • There’s ANOTHER forum? 😯

  • Please disregard my previous remarks about the trim, as it was was only me seeing an issue it was obvious the fault was at my end. I’ve successfully found the issue and now I’m ops normal and out flyi

Has anybody got this to work in 2024 ?

I installed the 2020 version no problem but the 2024 installer doesn't seem to load it into the aircraft selection. Tried it again but it says it's already installed. It doesn't appear in the community folder either.

Any advice would be appreciated thanks.

Yep, I'm running it in v2024 and used their installer to get it there.

In terms of where yours might be installed, I've seen some msfs installers put add-ons in the default MSFS location on my user profile, and I've seen some put them into my still-installed v2020, both while having a properly configured alternate Community folder.

You can run a search for it in win file explorer, but probably faster to chase down your configured MSFS addon directories and look there.

Oh, and I guess it's possible the installer sees your v2020 version install and that's what's tripping it up. Maybe it doesn't gracefully handle both sims on the same computer...?

Anybody else have download problems for the JF Arrow 6a versions? I'm getting 5 kb/sec which would take 2 days to download.  From Contrail, e.g., I'm getting 50 Mb/sec.  Is JF having server issues?

@jon b mentioned a rather strange pitching moment, where full yoke fwd input wasn't effective even with full nose heavy Trim??? Hmmm ...

@jcomm I’ll do some more flying tonight and try to get to the bottom of it.When I’d got it flying normally the flight model was feeling really good, it’s just when I start throwing it around a bit I get this strange pitch power coupling where I lose pitch down authority. Pitching up remains normal.
If IRC I’ve seen a similar thing occur in the JF F28, 146 and Vulcan, I put it down to ending up in a deep stall with the T tails and control surface blocking with the Vulcan, a couple of times it’s ended up in tail slides that I can’t recover from.

It’s only on JF aircraft I experience these conditions with, and it appears it’s only me experiencing these issues, so maybe it’s just the way I’m flying them.

Just to add , I love the JF products and always buy them, I’d recommend them to anyone. I just seem to be in a minority of one having pitch issues for some reason.

Long ago I used to do some of their helicopter flight dynamics fine tuning for Fsx...

Really like their aircraft too!

It seems to be an issue with the trim, if I fly deliberately slightly nose heavy out of trim then I get sufficient negative pitch authority. Flying straight and level in trim for 100kts and there isn’t enough authority in the elevator to pitch down correctly, I can but it’s very slow.

Trimmed for 100kts, and accelerating to 120 with full power on and the aircraft will maintain level flight near enough, with the yoke fully forward against the stops. Continue acceleration up to 140kts and it’s actually in a gentle climb with full forward yoke.

The trim should only have an effect on control force, it shouldn’t limit elevator authority in this way. Full down elevator is full down elevator and will have you pointing vertically down in no time, yes the yoke will be harder to push to the stops but the effect of full scale control deflection will be exactly the same regardless of the aircraft’s trim state.

Not that you’d ever see the yoke fully forward against the stops like that in normal flight.

Other than that I’m loving the new PA28 , great sounds , great cockpit, and what feels like a great flight model except for that negative pitch issue.

In the real one when you throw the power back in for a go-around if you dump the flaps too soon without quickly re-trimming nose down you really do have to push the yoke almost to the forward stop to keep the nose from going straight up. Yes that is poor airmanship, but it WILL happen during a poorly executed go-around.

Have a go at doing that procedure in this warrior if you have it and see what you think

Ah yes but the last aircraft I flew, which was yesterday, was a Eurofox microlight !

Loving the updated aircraft, but I'm not seeing the TDS GTN in the cockpits.  I open the TDS unit, load MSFS2024 then select the GPS in the EFB, but I only see an option for the 530.  What have I missed?
