May 17, 20251 yr Finally a response from tech support copied from the FS forum. I submitted a bug to Zendesk and support worked with me to determine the cause. Not surprising, it is not the sim. Tech support blames it on Gaming Services. Gaming Services is used to sync your Sim profile, logbook, etc. for your account. It’s not their problem, so they closed the ticket. Pretty much says “good luck with that” blow off.

No, it says exactly what my post prior said which is that it is not anything on their end hence nothing they can fix. 17 minutes ago, Bobsk8 said: Tech support blames it on Gaming Services. I'm sure MS knows about the bug but people should be opening tickets with MS support directly not MSFS support. Edited May 17, 20251 yr by psolk Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk

Let's be serious, please. Let's put things into perspective. My flights are usually between 1 and 3 hours. During that time I get no CTD's, enjoy a great experience and I get to fly the aircraft that I like. So a few clicks at the end is no great hardship. Of course I would like to get it resolved as soon as possible but for now I can live with it.

May 17, 20251 yr Author When I check what tasks are currently running with NO games running the task manager displays Gaming Services running as Gaming Services (2) Is that correct? I am wondering after reading various posts here, especially from at least one reader that he is running the store edition which shuts down ok HOWEVER may he is running 2024?, that perhaps it might be good to uninstall Gaming Services and reinstall. Sure its no great hardship and quick to do however it never used to be like this and what if you had to use task manager to shut down everything you run. It's not normal. Call be stupid here, but cant both parties get on a teams call and work together to fix the issue ?
May 23, 20251 yr Author Doesn't Microsoft ever 'talk' to Asobo? I mean we all purchased MSFS from Microsoft not Asobo. Or is it a bit of the dog's tail wagging its body? This has gone on far too long. Does MSFS2024 have the same problem? If not then it seems to me that they want us to purchase 2024 or just simply put up with it. Because it then means one would then have to take ownership/responsibilty of the issue, which in corporate America is a big no no in the land of liabilty. Good examples of this is the well documented issue with p3d and bad bgl data, which when using gsx used to crash the sim. Neither GSX nor LM would acknowledge the issue, it went on for nearly 2 years of people trouble shooting it on here, until Eric found by restarted coult after pushback it resolved the issue. Umberto then finally fixed GSX, but did LM did not help at all. "not my problem buddy" They certainly were not going to admit their bgl data had issues. Another good example even further back in fsx days some 15 odd years ago, when using the pmdg 747 and activesky you used to get these horrific "s bend" wild turns. The only way to fix it was to do something with FSUIPC to limit windhisfts, also something with activesky again to limited wind shifts, and also put something in the fsx.cfg file. It tooks months if not years to sort it, by this time ACES were long gone, and because noone wanted to acknowledge the issues it was up to the community to work out the issue. From memory PMDG said "our product works fine, its activesky or aces issue" Aces were out of the picture, and activesky said its not our issue its PMDG and so it went round in circles. Finally from my experience of being crew at virgin, whenever you ask the caterer in LAS for a few more bags of ice because you have a few hen/stag/bachelorette groups on board that you know are going to sink alot of drinks/ice, it means they have to go against procedure, put their neck on the line and give you a few more bags of ice, (anywhere else in the world no problem you take the ice, sign the paperwork and away you go), but not in the USA, again its the land of liabilty and "sorry buddy its not my job" this can be from something as small as a bag of ice to something big like admitting theres an issue in your software. in my opinion, harsh but true. May 23, 20251 yr I think MS/Asobo have fixed Gaming Services because I no longer seem to have the FS2020 shutdown problem. Al
