May 24, 20251 yr This pertains to MSFS 2024 but whatever MS or Asobo did in an update, has worked because MSFS 2024 closes every time.

Msfs 2020 is now shutting down correctly for me, after having the problem for weeks. The sim is no longer in the Task Manager after it shuts down. I can now even "brutally" shut the sim down by clicking on the red X and then start it up again with no issues. Al I just read on the FS forum that there is an X Box update and a Game Bar update that was just released, and someone reported that this fixed this issue. I just updated now while on a flight will report back if it worked, when I land. Just landed, updates didn't fix it, still doesn't shut down. Edited May 24, 20251 yr by Bobsk8

Both windows and msfs2020 fully updated afaik and I am still getting the shutdown problem. I have made the settings change so that the 'Exit' option shows up when I right click on the icon in the taskbar so it isn't a huge issue as long as I remember to do it manually.
