Well that's good to hear, but it is not what fixed things for me because I have never signed up for any beta, FS2020 or FS2024.

Al

So if you wait for the final release of that Beta i assume it will be fixed..

The problem with MSFS 2020 not fully shutting down on exit was not introduced by Asobo. It is a bug in the “Gaming Services” app that is produced by Microsoft itself. MSFS requires gaming services to

  • Looks like just a nav data update. I'm sure they are aware of the shutdown issue. It is hard to say if they will make any attempt to troubleshoot and fix it. I would imagine they are not at all happy

  • I am Furious with these Devs, aborting all support for FS2020. And now, introducing a New issue, And leaving it there.

This pertains to MSFS 2024 but whatever MS or Asobo did in an update, has worked because MSFS 2024 closes every time.

Are you sure it is fixed. How are you shutting down MSFS, and have you checked task manager for CPU usage, after shutting it down?

Yes I'm sure. The sim is no longer in the Task Manager after it shuts down.  I can now even "brutally" shut the sim down by clicking on the red X and then start it up again with no issues. So for me something has definitely changed.

I just  read on the FS forum that there is an X Box update and a Game Bar update that was just released, and someone reported that this fixed this issue. I just updated now while on a flight will report back if it worked, when I land.

Just landed, updates didn't fix it, still doesn't shut down.

I believe the only shut down problem was with MS 2020.

It still won't shut down for me, either.

I was having that problem with MSFS 2024 on two separate gaming rigs. I had to manually end the task in task mgr. It's no longer a problem.

Strange. Hard to understand why the shutdown issue now seems fixed for some, and not others.
I use Win11 in case that might make a difference for some unknown reason.

I am on Win 11. Both windows and msfs2020 fully updated afaik and I am still getting the shutdown problem. I have made the settings change so that the 'Exit' option shows up when I right click on the icon in the taskbar so it isn't a huge issue as long as I remember to do it manually.

Edit - I am running standard install not beta.

Edit2 - Looking at the thread on the official forums Asobo have admitted there is a problem and a fix is included in SU16.

Have you checked to see if there are any XBOX or Game Bar updates in the MS Store app? This problem has cleared up for me.

Might be worth a restart of the PC Bob? You never know, Microsoft works in mysterious ways....

I restart it once a day. no help. Asobo knows the problem and the fix is in the next update.
