So let me get this straight your flying a 737 into a grass strip but your immersion is broken not by that but by the fact that the AI is trying to find a correct building biased off a photo that leaves it somewhat ambiguous.

Actually certain models of the 737 are certified for grass strip operation. They did the FAA proving runs at Hope field (CYHE in British Columbia, just Northeast of Seattle). There are some pretty neat videos of the landing and departure trials on YouTube if you desire to see them.

Edit: It seems I applied links to two copies of the same video...but enjoy them both anyways :0)

Honestly I'm not sure MSFS is for you.

Bah, humbug. Too lazy to fix. If you've seen one solar farm, you've seen them all...

Are we really posting an almost 50 yo vid of a 737-200 or -100 to make some point??? In an ideal world should these farming structures present correctly? Sure!  But the only way to have a desktop sim for $50 is that they need to use AI for vast swaths of the world to make believable looking autogen.  Otherwise you need to use Landclass biased products like P3D.  This is the only way forward for sat images.  There may be some local issues but in general it works really well.  Complaining about this makes me think people don't understand the decision making around trying to cover the world in realistic sat ground images with corresponding correct autogen.  Complaining about local anomalies while the first posters on this thread couldn't even figure out what it was either only makes this more hilarious.

This wasn't even a solar farm though... If you cant figure out what it is how is the AI supposed to render it correctly?

With training and LLM … that’s how.  USPVDB database managed by USGS and Department of Energy is how location are monitor/managed (I believe UK has similar databases) … this data is available to all.  MS/Asobo don’t appear to be using the data for training of their “AI”.

I decided to try a departure and landing at the default EGHR Chichester Goodwood in my PMDG 737-600 (just to see how it handled it)....

BIG MISTAKE

Not because of the performance on that grass runway. It was the view that my unfortunate eyes had to witness when on final approach to runway 32.

I fear that I will never be able to unsee the zombie horde of rogue autogen houses that have infested the covered crops that are being grown in those fields. This is exactly the kind of thing that makes my OCD spiral out of control, and kills immersion stone dead 🤦‍♂️ If anyone has the antidote for this hammer house of horrors, then please give me a double dose quickly!!

It's a vision of the future. It's going to be houses or solar panels for those fields....

Yes, sometimes I wonder if this whole place is just one big science experiment 🤪

I enjoy reading the occasional thread with a little human factors in them like this, its the ones with the inflated egos all trying to mansplain to everyone why they are wrong that bore me.

For the sake of clarity, I was not specifically "having a go" at MS/Asobo here. I appreciate that the AI for placing autogen is not perfect, and that situations like this will occur. However, it is something that affects immersion for me. That may be difficult for some people to grasp, but we are all different. I would really like to clear this area of all of the rogue autogen houses, if for no other reason than peace of mind.

As for landing the 737 on a grass strip, I was only really doing it out of curiosity. I remember that the runway performance of the 737-600 on grass in P3Dv4 was slightly inferior to that on asphalt, and I wanted to know if it was the same in MSFS 2020 (I did not really come to a conclusion, because I was distracted by the misplaced autogen).

Correcting every anomaly in MSFS reminds me of a story in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy where an immortal being called Wowbagger the Infinitely Prolonged got fed up with life and set out to insult everyone in the Universe, in alphabetical order.

FS2024 • PMDG 738, 77F • FSL A321 • A2A Comanche, Aerostar • BS Baron, Bonanza, Caravan Pro • JF Tomahawk • TAOG H500C

9800X3D B650E • ROG OC RTX 5090 • 64GB DDR5-6000 • VKB Gladiator, STECS, T-Rudder • Tobii 5 • ISP 1 Gbps

There is an old EGHR that reports the removal of some buildings around the airport. Not sure if they are the ones in question, though.

Otherwise you might have to learn how to create exclusion rectangles.

The only weirdness I see is how people defend obvious issues and seem unable to use the words, ‘yeah it’s a problem and hopefully it gets fixed” … instead they resort to character or spin diversion or anything other than accept the reality problems exist that can be fixed.  It’s a strange phenomena, but so prevalent … like admission is a not an option.

There are many problems with the sim, but some are simply inherent in the available technology.

In effectively attempting to recreate the entire world, reality dictates some shortcuts have to be taken, and that 100% accuracy in all respects is simply not a reasonable expectation.

Problems like those brought forth by the OP do tend, in the eyes of some, to edge towards nitpicking when you're looking at flying over a recreation of an entire country and giving a jaundiced eye to a few misplaced buildings.....

For the foreseeable future, the accuracy being expected here is only going to come from photogrammetry, bespoke hand placement/user intervention or a sudden future jump in AI capabilities.

How do I resize the windows when in Devmode? When I load the Scenery Editor, the window fills the screen next to the Project Editor, and I cannot see how to reduce the size of it.

Try clicking on the lower right of the window and drag the cursor
