  • Please just stop. Enough of the MSFS hyperbole. They had products at FSE for many simulations other than just a MS Expo. Get off your high horse, will ya. I kind of find this tread nonsense if you ask

Yes, and I probably should have used the word "effectively" to be more clear, but then I added context and used the word, "most."

You took my quote totally out of context because I was replying to the OP, or OverTheDJ's original post. If you consider the context of OverTheDJ's original post, what I said was perfectly reasonable, that Microsoft can save themselves some money of organizing a separate MSFS FSExpo, and let the FSExpo proceed as normal, because it "effectively" becomes a big advertisement for MSFS anyways when it comes to non-hardware announcements, when you check FSElite's coverage of the event.

And this is where you should accept and respect other's opinions, especially if it's in context of the OP's original post.  If I am a marketing consultant, and I have to provide advice to Microsoft, I would advise them not to spend money on a separate MSFS Expo, because MSFS was indirectly promoted very well by the latest FSExpo.  And to be clear to you, just so you don't malign my words again, IMO, the FSExpo was "effectively" an MSFS Expo because "most" of the non-hardware announcements were for MSFS, as per FSElite's converage. So I would not advise the MSFS team to spend more money to organize a different expo just for MSFS, because it would cost the MSFS team a lot of money to do that, and unless they make a huge profit off of that, it would just distract the MSFS team.

But we can agree to disagree on whether the FSExpo was "effectively" an MSFS Expo when it comes to non-hardware announcements.  And you shouldn't say that I am denigrating others that aren't MSFS, because my reply was in context to the OP's original post.

nd like I said, I have tried to spend the last 2 years, not replying to your comments, to avoid confrontation with you.  But you keep attacking me in the last several weeks, even when I don't mention you.  So if you are going to keep attacking me, over and over again, then I will start to reply to your comments.

I'm correcting you.  I'm not attacking you.  I apologize if I come across as abrasive, because it's not my intention.  But what do you expect when you come out with comments like "pot calling the kettle black"??

"Most" of what?  I don't even understand where you're getting this from.  Is it Most of the expo will be an MSFS expo??

The only issue I have is your comment that we should let the expo's happen, and they'll be MSFS expo's anyway.  That comment alone tells me you have no idea of the work that goes behind putting an expo together.  All I'm doing is refusing to accept that idea, by commending the hard work that other people are putting into something like an expo.  Asobo have every opportunity to take advantage of FSA's event to promote their brand.  Just like everyone else with the same idea.

And I have every right to disagree with anyone's opinion, just like you, or anyone else does.  I don't agree that it's an MSFS expo.  Nothing will make me agree with it, purely because of what I see going on behind the scenes.  How many expo's have you been to?  I've been to every one of them since 2018.  I've helped to set up booths.  I've helped to dismantle booths.  All voluntarily.  Maybe take another persons experience backed opinion, and admit that we have an expo because of a group effort, including people from MSFS, X-Plane, DCS and the plethora of flight sim influencers.  The expo's are not MSFS centric.  And to say otherwise is throwing a gross amount of shade to the other people that make the expo's happen.

Ok, that's your opinion.  I was there, and I disagree with your opinion.  I would slightly agree if Asobo sponsored the expo with even the lowest tier sponsorship, but they couldn't even do that.  They weren't even honest with you, the MSFS community.  Was there anything that said "Asobo will not be attending the Providence Expo"?

You're never going to believe that money is the problem.  If they organized a separate expo, that was all about MSFS, it won't do well because they are effectively alienating themselves from the flight sim community as a whole.  I'd probably go, just to see what it was all about, but there's no reason for them to do it, because how are they going to fill 3 days with MSFS only stuff?

I'm going to close this off with one more comment.  Stop treating non MSFS people as the "enemy".  I'm an X-Plane dev, who willingly purchased MSFS to try it out as a dev platform.  I watch MSFS streamers.  I'm a big fan of Chewwy, London Controller, Blackbox, V1 and anyone else who streams MSFS content.  There's only 1 streamer I take exception to, and he will remain nameless.

And this is fine that you think the FSExpo is not "effectively" an MSFS expo.  But again, I was replying to the OP's first post, on whether Microsoft should organize their own MSFS expo.

And my answer was always in context to the OP's first post, that no, they shouldn't, because the FSExpo "effectively" became a big advertisement for MSFS for non-hardware announcements, with respect to FSElite's coverage of the event. My comment was not to denigrate, nor dismiss the work that others that are not related to MSFS have put into the FS Expo, because I am sure they put in a lot of work to make it successful. But you maligned my comments to say that it was anyways.

I still am none the wiser about what you're talking about with most, not all.  I'm not even arguing with you about that.  I'm only taking exception to your comment about letting the expo happen, and it'll be an MSFS expo anyway.  Nothing else.  There's no "most, not all" associated with that.

In all seriousness, just leave it.  Contrary to your opinion, I don't want this thread to get locked.  I told you what my issue was, and I don't want it to devolve into some pointless bickering over some kind of misunderstanding.

My answer is a reasonable answer to the OP's first post, even if you disagree with it.  I mean, the title of this thread is, "Should / Will MSFS host their own Expo in the Future?"

I provided my answer, with respect to the OP's first post, and title of this thread. And my answer was never intended to denigrate or belittle the work of others, not related to MSFS, for the work, effort, and money they put into FSExpo, because the context was always in a reply to the OP's first post and title of the thread.

More than an Expo, if I was rich enough, I would promote a 1 week Camp for developers only.

Dev teams from the various platforms would gather, have a good time, play their sims and addons on each of the others platforms, discuss their objectives, the problems they faced, the approaches they used, their plans for the future.

I would surely like to see Austin and Ben Playing and praising the certainly nice / good aspects of MSFS, and Sebastien and other ASOBO team members playing X-Plane and being able to get the best out of it... and Aerofly, and DCS, and IL-2, and Condorsoaring, and....

A Camp just for devs !!!

I am sure we users would also benefit from such an initiative !!!

Why not?

Popcorn is generally eaten at entertainment events that are interesting. I rest my case.
